Afghanistan LoCo Team

Afghanistan has the opportunity to start from Open Source at an early stage. The Afghanistan team will support the modifications needed to make Linux work for more in Afghanistan supporting localization and translation work and community awareness of the importance of Open Source / Ubuntu as a gateway.

Work will expand to support the distribution of CDs, Installation parties and LUGs. We will support people to unleash the power of Open Source to contribute to the development of Afghanistan.

Working with the National ICT Council of Afghanistan an Open Source conference is scheduled to be taking place in March. Headed by Omar Khan Shaheen - American University of Afghanistan. Email mike {at} paiwastoon.com.af for more details.

Linux Afghanistan Requirements - Finding out what exactly Afghans need in a pre-packaged CD suitable for offline use w/language support

Collaborative Offline Translation System (COTS) - Integration of OmegaT [http://www.omega and a web platform for improved offline translation productivity. Launch coming up for Friday 23rd/Nov.
