Hi there,

I work as a QA Engineer for McAfee and have been using Ubuntu Hoary since about three or four months before it went stable. Before that I have been using Debian in a bastardised mix of Sarge, Sid and Experimental. Going back further I have used RedHat, SuSE, Gentoo, TurboLinux and ROCK Linux.

What do I use Ubuntu for? Well, on my IBM X31 thinkpad, Ubuntu Hoary is the desktop OS I use. In my work, I write documentation, so OpenOffice and other editors (emacs, vim) needs to work. I use latex for various things. Evolution is my graphical mail client, while on the console, mutt is the preferred choice. I write perl, so a fair few perl libraries etc is usually installed for me, I compile my own kernels (sorry, but the Ubuntu ones doesn't do what I want them to) so all the tools that go with that is installed.

I am a QA engineer, but also a SysAdm, so I have a reasonably good clue to how the system works. If there is something that doesn't work, I tinker with it until it does or I get stuck and I have to ask if someone else knows the answer. I have had a look at breezy already on a couple of worker-boxes I make use of, and there are niggles in the upgrade process from Hoary. I'll start raising defects on that shortly.

For further details, mail me and I will answer any, well - most, questions you may have.
