Projects and Membership

  • Member of revamp-it Team in Zuerich, Switzerland

    • revamp-it is selling laptops and any other kind of computers (new and recycled) with preinstalled Linux

    • Based on the Linux Terminal Server Project (www.ltsp.org) revamp-it also offers sets of computers for any office environment completely preconfigured with linux and free software and follow-up support.

    • For children revamp-it offers specially configured "child-friendly" computers based on Linux and OpenDNS

  • Participation in FreieComputer.ch
    FreieComputer.ch helps computershops in Switzerland in selling and supporting computers with preinstalled software that is published under a free licence.
    At the moment FreieComputer.ch is preparing customized installations of Kubuntu in three versions:

    • Basic version for recycling computers for simple office and internet usage

    • Plus version for new or recycled desktop computers with advanced features (32bit and 64bit)

    • Laptop version for mobile computers (32bit and 64bit)
  • Weekly Linux-Workshops at revamp-it.ch
    Every Wednesday from 17.30 to 19.30 we offer a Linux-Workshop in Zuerich at Rosengartenstr.1, 6th floor, where people can come with either problems or new ideas they have while installing or working with Linux. Together we are trying to solve the problems or find out on how to get started with new projects.
    We focus on debian-based distributions.

  • In the context of Linuxola I help preparing LTSP-systems with recycled Hardware for educational and social institutions in Africa
  • Participation in the "World Summits on Free Information Infrastructures" WSFII Mailinglist.
    I am very interested in open source hardware projects. Projects I would like to work on:

    • Ronja optical data link
    • Developing a guide to build a 12V powersupply using as much as possible recycled parts of old 220V powersupplies (to make use of alternative energies as energy source for computers)
