Ardchoille2
About me
I was born Bryan King in Tucson, Arizona and grew up in Copperas Cove, Texas. I attended Copperas Cove High School where I participated in the choir and band. I served in the US Navy where I visited several countries, participated in UNITAS, became a shellback and got my bluenose. I also served in the Texas Army National Guard.
My name (legally changed on 04/03/2003) is Ian MacGregor, I use the nickname "ardchoille" online, and I am a member of Clan Gregor. My nickname (ardchoille) was taken from the phrase "Ard Choille!", which is Scottish Gaelic for "To the high trees!" - the war cry of my clan. I purchased my first kilt in 2001 and I currently wear the kilt as part of my daily attire.
I have been using computers since 1983 and building computers since 2001. I have been using Linux since it became my primary operating system in 2001. Since I started using Linux. I have learned HTML, CSS, some javascript, some python, and some perl. Linux taught me that I could build or download software rather than buy it and still yield a quality system.
I have been studying God's word since childhood. I am an ordained minister and hold two Doctorate degrees.
Ubuntu IRC operator status
On April 11, 2010 I applied to become an Ubuntu IRC operator for the #ubuntu channel. I have been using Ubuntu as my sole operating system since 2005 and have been active in #ubuntu for years. I have also been active in reporting issues to the current Ubuntu IRC operators. I wish to become an Ubuntu IRC operator in order to assist in maintaining channel topics and to help make the user experience as pain-free as possible. I am retired and am able to schedule my time in compliance with the needs of an Ubuntu IRC operator.
