'''Humanity is about Usability.'''
It's about giving the user the clearest possible view of their desktop. Humanity features clear, consistent, concise metaphors that will never leave a user clueless. Everything, from color to shape to placement has been thought out in extreme detail. Humanity is more than just art, it's design.

'''Humanity is about Practicality.'''
Every icon in Humanity is drawn and saved in Scalable Vector format. That means clearer icons, even in between standard sizes. That also means smaller file sizes.

'''Humanity is about Constant Evolution.'''
Humanity is carefully optimized with each revision. In the last two years elementary has more than quadrupled its content and dropped its file size by 75%. Humanity, being built on elementary, inherits this strength. Humanity is also scrutinized by a number of peer review tests including review by artists working on the elementary project, developers working on GNOME Do, Docky, OpenPandora, X/Ubuntu itself, and the famous "girlfriend/boyfriend test".

Contributing

We welcome useful contributions from anyone, regardless of age, gender, or experience.

Humanity is constantly evolving. If you want to contribute there are several ways you can contribute to Humanity , irrespective of your level of expertise or the area of expertise.

Artists

Found icons we dont have in Humanity ? Or do you think there is a better way the current icon can be improved? Check out the guidelines page and submit icons > Icon guidelines

Hackers

During UDS-Lucid , the idea for symbolic icons was proposed and the code work in librsvg still remains to be done. For more details , check out > https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SymbolicIcons and http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/SymbolicIcons . We need someone to make this a reality.

Testers

Currently , several applications use the same icon used in the notification area in several other locations[menus , window titles], this brakes the consistency in the application/menus. Or the applications have the tray icons hard-coded in their binaries , making it impossible to change the icon used in the tray [ex: vlc , dropbox , xchat , vuze] . You can help fix this by filing bugs in your favorite applications. Request that the developers make it possible to use symbolic icons. Once a bug has been filed in the concerned application , add humanity-icon-theme to the bug too.
