Welcome to Peace, a new theme proposed by Chuck Huber(z_diver) for the upcomming release of Ubuntu Edgy.

Theme Rational

Ubuntu opts for a new look with each release. Peace can further that goal by including an updated look to past favorites Ubuntu has offered by default without shearing ties altogether. Clearly the trend in GUI design is toward ever more features so this theme aims to be slightly lighter, remaining fast and elegant forever.

Goals

To be a lightweight and fast option to Ubuntulooks themes while providing the polish Ubuntu is famous for.

Styling

The colors should provoke a sense of nostalgia for past Ubuntu themes while being fresh at the same time. Presently dark chocolates and deep maroons are being used for the accent colors. Tried and true beiges will dominate the gtk2 interface with a hint of purple glow to promote buttons and other widgets. Instead of the glossy look of Human, Peace will be flat or contain a bit of sheen at the most.

Function

Peace is designed for the Gnome desktop and will utilize common gnome interface engines. These will be chosen based on a combination of speed, functionality and good looks.
