Concept
One the key elements of any GTK theme is the frame controls with many examples presented here. The Ubuntu logo is based on circles and the desire is to leverage the strengths of its design in Metacity. Staying true to the top level goal the default controls are displayed muted. As the mouse hovers above they change to the prelight state, shrinking when active to present an illusion of a pressed button. Simple, functional, Ubuntu!

Control Detail
The dimensions of these buttons in the Metacity frame are 12.5 x 12.5 pixels. Shifting the image from ring to dot gives visual feedback when clicked.
