As of Ubuntu Dapper 6.06, the SATA VIA VT8251 is not yet supported. So, if you plan to use SATA hard disks, either find another motherboard, patch the kernel according to viaarena forums web site, or wait until kernel 2.6.18 or later though.

Parallel ATA disks work well.
