Overview

This team focuses on translating Ubuntu into Australian English using [https://launchpad.net/rosetta/+about Rosetta]. It is hoped that this wiki page will assist the Australian translators in working as a cohesive group, rather than a collection of individuals.

Translation Guidelines

In the interest of consistency, I think we need to come to some agreement on the spelling of certain words and how they are translated from other versions of English. The following is the beginning of such a thing. Please feel free to change things. These are based my observations of how others have been translating in Rosetta.   *alog	*alogue	catalogue, dialogue
  *er	*re	centre, fibre, metre, millimetre
  *ior	*iour	behaviour
  *led	*lled	labelled
  check	tick	the tick box
  disk	disc	this is argued, but i think c is correct
  Trash	Garbage Bin	"Garbage Bin" is far more commonly used than "Trash"
  Counter-Clockwise	Anti-Clockwise	rotate Anti-Clockwise
