* Le sujet de #ubuntu-be est : http://ubuntu-be.org | get support at #ubuntu-nl, #ubuntu-fr, #ubuntu-de, #ubuntu | IRC meeting on Wednesday 2010-03-03 at 21h (UTC+1), see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BelgianTeam/IrcMeetings for agenda and more information * Sujet de #ubuntu-be défini par jean7491!~jm@109.236.136.28 le Fri Feb 26 22:17:02 2010 * #ubuntu-be :http://www.ubuntu-be.org/ * svg (~svg@phenicia.ginsys.net) a rejoint #ubuntu-be Hi to all, who is here for the meeting ? check check I'm (but only for a few minutes o/ (sort of) hello warddr , rulus , siegie , JanC hi mimor, ? mongolito404 ? hello pvandewijngaerde Hi zuzuzzzip ? hello mongolito404 i suggest we start with topic 1 – past and future events but for sigie, we will start with dipro oostmalle 21/3, and after we follow the agenda for siegie ! * nero_ (~nero@62.235.163.83) a rejoint #ubuntu-be hi guys hello nero_ hello nero_ , first for dipro oostmalle 21/3, we have already 1 volunteer in the wiki, siegie, can you coordinate the event ? unfortunatly I'm not free on 21/3 I might be able to help out on the day itself, but I don't have the time to do much orginasation/preparation unless my agenda changes before thank you rulus, your help will be appreciated, are there other volunteers for dipro oostmalle ? I can not be there siegie ? can you coordinate the event ? I'm having problems with my internet connection siegie , ok, we come back with dipro oostmalle later when your problem with internet connection is solved coming back to the agenda, past event : antwerp, hobby & computerdagen (20 – 21/02/2010) - report * siegie_ (~quassel@unaffiliated/siegie) a rejoint #ubuntu-be nero_ : do you have something to say as report ? * jean7491bis (~jm@109.236.136.54) a rejoint #ubuntu-be nero_ ? * siegie_ est parti (Read error: Connection reset by peer) Saturday there was a little struggle to obtain more space than only for the multiseat, but at the end we managed to show our stuff Sunday we had much more people at the booth probably due to 2 other fairs in the same hall that day Koen(?) didn't appear, and no news about him But we had help from Ivo from HCC, who is also an Ubuntu user bottom line: a little more space would jave been welkome s/jave/have I agree with nero_ * svg est parti (Quit: leaving) about koen : he told me he was waiting a mail from you with coordination. , without contact he though he was not necessary to appear I did not have his email address, and could not find it anywhere about space, of course it is difficult to insist for more place when it is offered gratis by hcc ! the bitmappers might have offered us more space ;) and the catering offered by HCC was ok imo definately My students home (has currently slowband internet, devided by 23 people), Yes I can cordinate the event, but what is the work with coordination? JanC : but the bitmappers didn't offer ! siegie : plus minus like last year, we can arrange things through a few mail, main problem is volunteers ... jean7491: they did have their own Ubuntu-booth actually last year there was koen, thijs, I don't know if they can come this time. siegie : you + rulus = 2, we need 2 other volunteers for oostmalle : koen is not available, i will mail to thijs, can you contact ertai ? ertai is probably bussy with the organisation of the release party's in the netherlands. But i'll try to contact him back to a'pen : main problem is coordination before the event about with who we are working and practical things like place and tables ... let's hope wedo better next time ... nero_ , warddr , JanC : anything else about a'pen ? Willem was there and didn't know we were there (he has seen us there, but if he knew before he would have helped at the boot) sorry guys, I need to help the wife urgently for half an hour or so willem : yes, i had contact later with him, he didn't receive my mail (he had no explanation) nero_ ok, willem comes likely to the next event in a'pen no other comment about a'pen ? I don't have other comments JanC ? or siegie siegie ? maybe next time look out for a better booth... i'm going to leave, this meeting. The internet connection is really bad, good evening. It takes minutes before i can see the next line. hopefully beter next time :) but otherwise, no comments bye siegie ok siegie, bye JanC "look out for a better booth" : then send me via mail comments for improvement, i was not there and have no idea what you did there ! jean7491: I mean what warddr & nero_ said before: there wasn't much space for us we couldn't really move while the bitmappers booth was mostly about Ubuntu too and only one side of the multiseat could be used becouse tere was no place to sit down at the other side because we were showing there some things on our notebooks and we were talking to people with questions anyway, it's something to think about next year ok, likely problem of better coordination with hcc before the event ! with HCC or others yes and maybe contact bitmappers then on the agenda end of the year, for 2011 I'm back :) nero_ ok, anything else to add ? not that I know, everything has been covered afaik nero_ please don't forget a few sentences as report in the wiki, just who was there? plus and minus points and finance I did not had time yet to make an inventory but we did receive some gifts on Sunday for other coordinators: a bowl of sweets is indeed an attraction to the booth ok : as we receive public gifts, we should mention somewhere (the wiki is a good place) what we received and what we did with the money : it is an additional reason to write a report ! i suggest we continue with dipro brugge next item : dipro brugge 28/02 with a team of 4 volunteers everything went ok not so many visitors, but several good contacts finance : less public gifts, negative saldo approx. 20 euros report and pictures : see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BelgianTeam/ComputerFairs/Brugge_2010-02-28 negative saldo includes 100 CD-Rs though IIRC indeed without counting all those, we would have run almost break-even we have these cd-r for next events * bbartek est parti (Quit: Ik ga weg) better quality than those we buy in a'pen? nero_: probably not ;) cd-r verbatim anything else about brugge ? * JanC and Alain talked about starting an Ubuntu/linux club here in Bruges ;) we buyed a spindle of 100 cd's for €20,- but there is an lot of drop-out :( for the cd-r i bought in kortrijk, i had to burn the iso at medium speed to avoid errors Ubuntu/linux club ? we'll see ! even at 8x -the lowest speed I could select- there were failures indeed, the Ubuntu/linux club depends on having a good location but it might be useful to start something similar in other places indeed, local initiatives are always welcome, but it is again "just do it!" I'm going to bed. There is not progress for the support points map. I've not woked on it since last meeting. Aslo, there hasn't been any additional registration on the test site since last meeting. Jean, I saw your bug reports on LP and I appreciate. These are good suggestion. Good night all. * mongolito404 est parti (Quit: Leaving.) mongolito404 : thanks for your input, bye next item : dipro charleroi 07/03 ramtar in charge of this event, and is working in cooperation with 3 local lug's Cédric contacted Dipro for the booth yes, booth has been ordered by cedric, wehope a good cooperation with the 3 lugs other comment on charleroi ? next item the digital week 6-12/03 – ostend, bree, schoten, ... as already announced, ubuntu-be will be present on 11/02 in ostend with a booth (forum-room bibliotheek Kris Lambert) see http://zandletters.be/spip.php?article150 see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BelgianTeam/DigitalWeek-Ostend_2010-03-11 additional volunteers and visitors are welcome (at 12-13 hr and 19-20 hr.) ubuntu-be will be present in bree on 7/3 for presentation I just read about the digital week in schoten, including presentation of ubuntu, but I don't know who organize the presentation of ubuntu ? somebody local I suppose yes someone from the community staff IIRC the local library uses Ubuntu there s/community/municipality/ ok, but we could help with posters, flyers, cd's ... if we had a contact yes, that :P last year there were 'road to freedom' posters, cd's, multiseat, etc so that should be fine I think they know us, they can contact us... but if we receive no call, we cann't help, nor promote this event we can promote it... without the mail of rulus, we did not know about this event, that's a pity ! IIRC there was a mail some time ago? i don't know ... other comment or next item I don't know either, I certainly didn't read it (but that can be because I missed it offcourse) rulus , when you visit this event, you could mention that ubuntu-be can help, but we need a request ! well, maybe I just think that because they did this for several years now sure jean7491, I was typing something among those lines :) I'll let them know (but I think they do know it already) jean7491: maybe you remember when I was at your place I said something about a "Digitale week" event somewhere near Antwerp anyway, let's go on... JanC yes, ... in next topic #4, i will come back on our lack of presence in the digital week next item : dipro mechelen 14/3 already 3 volunteers in the wiki, ... perhaps other people are volunteers ? I can be there warddr : you are already in the wiki ! am I? yes, i added you in the wiki when you confirmed me you were going to dipro mechelen oh, ok with mario (?) and nero_ nero_ : can you coordinate this event ? I think I can magae it s/mgae/manage/ Ivo from HCC volunteered also nero_ : about promo material, you can mail me, if necessary Jurgen can't be there are there A5 ubuntu flyers available somewhere? i've a6 flyers 2009 but we have not yet a5 flyers I can't imagine those A6 flyres :( (what does TBC mean?) "to be confirmed" ok warddr : it is up to you to delete tbc when you are sure to participate got it, was A6 indeed what I mend is there something outdated on the 2009 flyers? see for yourself maybe? i've a stock of the printed a6 flyers : flyers are not outdated, not linked to a release the only one that I have seems to be like that in a transparent display nero_ i mail you a copy, wait mail is sent nero_ who was in dipro mechelen in december 2009 ? we had constantly visitors on our booth, some asked questions about other linux distro's or all kinds of software available on Ubuntu nero_ : dipro mechelen 2009, i found Frank (not present?), Marc, Andy, Wouter : perhaps you could ask their help ? there was certainly a lot of interest let's hope that will be the same this year btw the A6 flyer is the one that I was looking for are there more future events on the agenda? the release party but the wiki is ssssslllllloooooooowwwwwww!!! okay, I have some more stuff then ;) I can't even reach the wiki 10-14 May 2010 = Ubuntu 10.10 Developer Summit at La Hulpe/Terhulpen near Brussels nero_ you can mail to me for the preparation of dipro mechelen, 16 May = Ubuntu Meeting (release party) in Genk by the Bitmappers Libre Graphics Meeting 26/27 to 30 May the release party for hcc is planned on may 3th please, we first continue with the agenda - next item : dipro oostmalle 21/3 right, so crazyness all May who can order the booth for mechelen? JanC will order the booth ok I will order teh booth *after* I get confirmation ☺ today i requested the days of during the UDS, can we help there ? so please mail me about 1 week before the fair to say you have enough volunteers next item : dipro oostmalle 21/3 - we already spoke with siegie newt item : dipro genk 28/3 already 2 volunteers in the wiki, but we need a coordinator : perhaps lars ? last item of my serial of events : there will likely be several release parties organized by other associaations in brussel (?), mechelen, genk, … is there a possibility and a will to organize a release party for lucid lynx in the area of ghent? nobody from ghent to answer ? I think with the large release party in Genk, we don't need one in Gent too or at least nothing more than a bar where we can drink together ;) Gent - Genk is about 150 km, that's a lot i just read a mail from fabian in the mailing list, i'm not aware about a large rp ? jean7491, ubuntu-meeting.be jean7491: they have 3 rooms for presentations I think we should help promote that I agree about that, we should definately promote that and just asked volunteers in the mailing list : i am always surprised by call like that not adressed to the loco team ! I can't be there because at that very moment I am studying I mean, now that somebody is actually organising something ;) last bitmappers release party (previouse LTS) it was a succes the bitmappers are nice people on 9/5 we have a boot in dipro a'pen : we could organize there something as a small rp nero_ : is hcc organizing a rp in mechelen area ? and indymedia in brussel ? yep, 3 may in HCC (I'm off, see you next week!) bye rulus JanC : you mentionned "10-14 May 2010 = Ubuntu 10.10 Developer Summit at La Hulpe/Terhulpen near Brussels" yep, for those interested... https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UDS-M?action=show&redirect=UDS https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UDS-M JanC - Libre Graphics Meeting 26/27 to 30 May - something for ubuntu-be ? yes, we are asked to give a presentation about linux/ubuntu there, I need to ask more exact info though we need volunteer(s) to give a presentation : when you know more, we can ask ! Thats study time for me ok warddr - is there anything more about past and future events ? then topic 2 - Promotion material I read there were cd's ordered has someone something to say about promotion material in general, and localized cd in particular ? A localized cd would be nice no (not yet) we did not ordered cd's, afak jean7491, http://www.mail-archive.com/ubuntu-be@lists.ubuntu.com/msg04267.html * pvandewyngaerde est parti (Read error: Connection reset by peer) * pvandewyngaerde (~id984031@87.76-200-80.adsl-dyn.isp.belgacom.be) a rejoint #ubuntu-be it is about cedric and activities in charleroi (dipro and rewics) ok, I have nothing more to say about promotion about localized cd's, we are looking for volunteers to lead this project and to investigate the possibilities, including prices-offers, but first we need a leader for such a team other comment about promo material ? if not, next topic i'm back online: (The bitmappers are going to give a cd for the people who come to the meeting) Maybe there's some collaboration possible? meeting -> release party siegie , maybe, but no request from bitmappers to the loco team ! Next topic 3 support points map status - we already had comment from mongolito404 please visit the website to test the proposal see last meeting-report for detail next topic 4 – things living in the mailing list not a lot as usual item #1 : as already mentioned earlier, we should find new ways/events to promote ubuntu: all suggestions are welcome, like open-doors organized by schools, hobby fairs locally organized by associations or cities, and more recently and open ict day. As example, i wonder that within the digital week in vlaanderen, there is only one event announced (in ostend), bree event is not announced as ubuntu presentation, and later schoten everybody can contact the local organizators of the digital week for an increased participation in 2011 siegie: in that case we need to make sure we coordinate with them! item #2 about the re-approval-application : the loco council has re-approved our application as official loco team. just one comment : this is an illustration of the need of reports in the wiki when we (from ubuntu-be) are organizing some activity or participate to events. comment ? jean7491: I just found out the "Digitale Week" is organized by VSNG, which also sponsors other "digital alphabetism" stuff jean7491 I've still no response from jan V B, for the promotion material for bree. well, co-organized or something siegie, i mailed to jan vb yesterday, but no answer (yet) JanC : local initiative is necessary to participate actively (and locally) to the digital week, jean7491: right, I saw that but they could probably sponsor other events too next item ? who they ? VSNG http://vsng.be/ -> Vlaams Steunpunt Nieuwe Geletterdheid they sponsor the "digitale week" events yes, and we can participate (if we ask, like in ostend) it's basically how the Flemish government finances anything that tries to get more people on-line so they might be useful outside the Digitale Week too yes I just wanted to point that out, so it gets recorded somewhere ☺ the only problem is that we (everybody) need to propose activities : local initiatives ... if no other comment, next item item #3 : e few weeks ago, JanC suggested to start a monthly report : nice, but we are still looking for a volunteer ? is someone volunteer to be in charge of this monthly report ? before a possible answer (?), i propose next meeting on 10/03/2010 at 21 h. i got to go if no other reaction, we can conclude this meeting, thanks to all for your participation, i'll see you next week ! see you all next week ☺
