JanC ? mimor ? rulus ? siegie ? and others ? hello good evening all hello rulus hi rulus present * yanu est parti (Remote host closed the connection) hi JanC hi JanC mimor ? siegie ? * nero est parti (Quit: Leaving) * nero (~nero@ip-62-235-173-189.dsl.scarlet.be) a rejoint #ubuntu-be let's start now with topic 1 – past and future events about the digital week 6-12/03 no information from schoten ? rulus ? it was nice, but I didn't stay a very long time very nice location, quite a lot of visitors (more as last year) lot of multiseat pc's sessions were very 'intimate', lot of time to ask questions :) good how were the sessions organized ? how many presentators? what? how long ? I think about 5/6 presentators, giving live demonstration on their laptop connected to a beamer about Ubuntu, Gimp, Drupal, Voip mostly length varying around an average of ca. 30 I guess minutes that is sorry, my pc crashed ! i lost messages after "minutes that is" there weren't any :) is that a ubuntu pc that crashed ? * jean7491bis (~jean74911@109.236.143.102) a rejoint #ubuntu-be jean7491: you didn't really miss anything ok, a few words about ostend on 11/03, ubuntu-be has been presented in ostend (bibliotheek Kris Lambert) in 2 sessions. about 25 people at noon and 12 people in the evening assist to the presentation, public was interested with a lot of questions Not enough time at noon, and 45 min questions and exchanges in the evening. approx 30 min for 4 presentations, see wiki https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BelgianTeam/DigitalWeek-Ostend_2010-03-11 for me, very positive experience, imho we should repeat such a presentation at other time and place to reach a larger public. hello pvandewyngaerde , and thanks for your help in ostend anytime, but it was short for me short but you helped me! i hope ubuntu-be will be more present in the digital week 2011 ! but it needs local contacts comment ? digitale week or other events, *everything* done is useful of course next item : dipro mechelen 14/3 - report nero_ , do you have something to report now as I mentioned in my mail, we had a lot interest before 14:00 afterwards there were less visitors at the fair that's not uncommon questions were very differentiated probably also some cycling race going on... visitors tend to come early our internet connection came in handy at several occasions there was some interest for the upcoming release parties we received enough gifts to pay the booth there's even something left over nice thanks nero for the report, anything else to add ? I did send you a short report in Dutch, will you puplish the relevant parts? ok, i'do (only for dipro mechelen) don't forget the pics what size is best for publishing? don't know, i do it <200 ko in +/- 700x500 I'll try that eventually send me the pics and i'll do it next item : dipro oostmalle 21/3 do we have volunteers? 2 volunteers are in the wiki, of course we still need 1 or 2 additional volunteers for the booth ... but no last minute information from siegie ... well, 2 could also work maybe, but we need their confirmation i'm just home At the moment there's only me and rulus, there was no response on the call on the ubuntu-nl forum. Only one person who can maybe help in gent. I've contacted ertai to but, he had something in eindhoven. can you do the fair with two people? I have the material in my home (cd, posters), so it would a waste if we can't do the fair I'm available sunday, no problem to do it with 2 for me if you & rulus are okay with it, I can order the booth rulus: do you think it's possible with 2 people, last time in oostmalle there where not so many people. ah okey :) don't know how many people normally come, but I don't expect huge buses arriving in Oostmalle :P why not? it's been a long time since I've been at a dipro fair siegie : of course you can use for oostmalle the material that you had for jan vanbogget in bree JanC: well, it's not a very big city I think, but I can be wrong jean7491: yes i think, it would but difficult to bring the cd 9.10 to another fair before the release :) rulus, I will update the wiki, this evening. Material that i can bring etc.. Saturday I have to go to Breda, can I pass by someone to bring pannels & 9.10 cd's leftover? ok nice :) JanC: do you oder the booth? I'll order the booth Okey thanks :) I also still have 9.10 CDs here, but too late to get them to A'pen I guess I wonder if we can get them to Genk maybe otherwise, we can use them in Ghent, but of course that's just before the release genk of ghent, we will see ... ? * bbartek (~bb@ubuntu/member/bbartek) a rejoint #ubuntu-be I can mail some to siegie or rulus, but not sure if 1 day will be enough for the Post to deliver hello bbartek * hfsdo est parti (Quit: Leaving) nero: you mean to me or siegie? rulus or siegie : nero had material for you (pannels and cd's), can you give a rendez-vous on saturday when he is going to breda yep I live not that far from the E19, exit 4 let me check you can leave the E19 at exit 4, pass at my house and then take nr. 3 again to continue to Breda rulus , siegie : you can see the pannels with posters in the wiki brugge picture nr 2 - https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BelgianTeam/ComputerFairs/Brugge_2010-02-28 or we can meet at the P+R at exit 4 actually I don't have a clue of my return time plop JanC :-) in the morning it will be ± 09:00 return foreseen about 17:00h no problem rulus , nero : can you exchange your information (gsm nr ?) for the contact through pm or dialog nero/rulus: you both can talk about this in private I suppose, then we can move on with the meeting sure, will do sure thanks, anything else for oostmalle ? I think not ok next item : dipro genk 28/3 claudio will coordinate the booth, for the moment, only 2 volunteers * bbartek est parti (Quit: Ik ga weg) claudio is looking for more volunteers (if possible !) next item ... dipro ghent 18/4 (?) (?) as after the dipro in januari, there were comments/remarks about too many dipro fairs in ghent mimor ? comment ? verhelsttje on ubuntu-nl would maybe help. http://forum.ubuntu-nl.org/ubuntu-nl/hulp-gevraagd-voor-ubuntu-stand-op-dipro-beurzen/ but he's not on the wiki yet or Gh0sty ? last time there was an important cyclocross competition IIRC siegie : ok, i noted his name in forum-nl ! always means less visitors, especially in the afternoon i dont think i will be participating in much ubuntu stuff anymore got a load of other work and personal things to do :/ we can see, it's still a "long" time (April) ok, next item Release parties Lucid Lynx 10.04LTS - already announced in mechelen (hcc) and genk (bitmappers) (and perhaps in brussels ?) hcc mechelen : nero - something to add ? and maybe one in gent ?? at the new whitespace / hackerspace ?? see mailinglist ? - ghent : is there a possibility and a will to organize a release party for lucid lynx in the area of ghent? mimor is trying to move in this matter other question : - antwerp : is there a possibility and a will to add something rp-lookalike to antwerp dipro on 9/5 ? ... i hope to discuss this point with people from a'pen area, in the following weeks I think we should promote the one in Genk mostly, they do a lot of work maybe small parties in other places are cool too though even if only to have a drink JanC: idd genk is planned to be bigger than the release party in herk de stad 2 years ago but we shouldn't overload teh agenda * XiaoShiZi (~XiaoShiZi@94-226-250-119.access.telenet.be) a rejoint #ubuntu-be I think we should promote Genk to be the "main" release party it is indeed the main rp from bitmappers, i don't see it as main party for ubuntu-be as we were and are not involved only 1 message in the mailing list, but of course we relay the information through our channel well, some of us will probably be involved (even if not in the main organisation) I agree that more cooperation would be useful but OTOH, nobody else in ubuntu-be wants to organise an alternative ;) The hcc one is just the next meeting, i don't think they've organized something special siegie: they will probably show of lucid & offer install support or something yeah, something like that. but i'm going to leave, have to do much work for school tomorrow. Good night all for these reasons i'm suggesting a rp in ghent, as the more active members are from the areas close to ghent good night siegie ! bye siegie if it's just for a drink then okay we'll see later for rp in ghent anything about other events ? IIRC teh release is on 29th ? yes other events ? nothing for other events ? well, post-release there is UDS-M and LGM2010 but not much to be said about that now no new info ? UDS-M is for developers & other people who help with Ubuntu nothing now ok, next topic topic 2 - Promotion as ramtar suggested last week, our actions are not promoted through the medias. ... we need a public-relation team helping to promote ubuntu information and activities in the media. comment ? I think press releases are a good start, if we make a press release for the Lucid release mentioning release party's it might get picked up more easily that's mostly useful for "bigger" events like releases and such maybe we can ask the bitmappers to do a joint press release? about the release? good idea I'll mail them to ask (I have something other to mail them about too) ok other comment about the idea of a press release with mention of all rp's we will know about ? and more general about the idea of a pr team ? I think we can best link to a web page to list all release parties and a PR team is good of course we had one once, but those people aren't very active anymore... * yanu (~yanu@d54C5F090.access.telenet.be) a rejoint #ubuntu-be * yanu est parti (Changing host) * yanu (~yanu@lugwv/member/yanu) a rejoint #ubuntu-be then it is necessary whe start again with a new pr team if we have volunteers, then that's certainly welcome, yes of course the question is "who is volunteer ?" * nightrid3r (kvirc@41.214.248.175) a rejoint #ubuntu-be we could start echanges on this topic in the mailing list (hoping for a miracle) I'm sure MarkVDB will be happy to help with some things (e.g. he has a list of press contacts) ok I'm also not sure how much a press release through Belga costs no idea, question for the pr-team! it's not cheap, although IIRC they have a free unfiltered option too other comment on the pr ? if not, next item : the cd's comment about the proposal to burn CD's for Ubuntu-be ? no comment ? no volunteer ? then next topic# 3 support points map status i suppose that without mongolito404 , we can skip this topic ? yeah topic 4 – things living in the mailing list item #1 : new ways/events to promote ubuntu: all suggestions are welcome, but no suggestion ! no idea ? other question not in the agenda ? hm, I was thinking about something earlier today, but can't remember what now :P pvandewyngaerde about linuxbabel ? if no question, last topic - next meeting on 24/03/2010 at 21 h. k ok, then end of the meeting, thanks to all for your participation ! * nero est parti (Disconnected by services) thanks to you jean7491! * nero_ (~nero@ip-62-235-173-189.dsl.scarlet.be) a rejoint #ubuntu-be good night bye
