JanC ? pvandewyngaerde ? Clamam ? rulus ? Yes, i am here hello Clamam JanC ? JanC ? pvandewyngaerde ? JanC is wsl op UDS in brussel, ik kijk met één oog naar deze chat ok * rayvr (~ray@ip-62-235-165-25.dsl.scarlet.be) a rejoint #ubuntu-be hello rayvr : are you coming for the meeting? yup present i propose we start with topic 1 – past and future events - about organization of events ... * rayvr est parti (Read error: Connection reset by peer) * jean7491bis (~jean74911@109.236.140.208) a rejoint #ubuntu-be first item : dipro antwerp 09/05 - report report and pictures are in the wiki ... https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BelgianTeam/ComputerFairs/Antwerpen_2010-05-09 * rayvr (~x@ip-62-235-165-25.dsl.scarlet.be) a rejoint #ubuntu-be KMS sucks and you see pictures from a visitor : http://www.flickr.com/photos/didiermisson/sets/72157624034634548/ i cant use my computer anymore!!! rayvr : then you will read the report later summary: a successful event, but the 'launch/install party' concept doesn't fit into the dipro fair nevertheless, there was a continuous affluence of visitors from 10 to 17 h., no time for a pause! a few lessons learned: … # importance of an improved decoration and new lay-out of the booth, for an easier contact with the public, : i think we had it! * mimor (~mimor@unaffiliated/mimor) a rejoint #ubuntu-be # it is worthy to ask a booth along a wall, and if possible close to the entrance and/or the food and drink facilities : there was no problem to ask it to dipro, welcome mimor ! we are bust with a'pen report k # it is easy to add posters and flyers at the entrance of the event to inform and attract the visitors to the booth : we forgot it, with no posters available, i think we can do better at the following booths in september with these 3 lessons any comment about dipro fair in a'pen ? * rayvr est parti (Ping timeout: 260 seconds) Could we maybe ask people to bring their laptops to the fair so that we can do a direct installation on their system? yes, but the problem is how reach the interested people ? I study at the University of Antwerp I can always put some posters up on the wall unfortunatly we had no contact with you and nobody in a'pen proposed where to put posters ... we can think about it in the future ... I signed in when the fair was finished, I did not know that such teams existed ok, as you know bram is our main contact in a'pen ... I contacted him a few days ago and we should locally look for the best places for the posters ... Indeed What I noticed, there where no young people i said locally as it is not possible to centralize this kind of information sorry * mpt (~mpt@canonical/mpt) a rejoint #ubuntu-be indeed, most of the visitors are not young, perhaps they are not yet interested in dipro computer fairs i mean younger people are possibly not yet interested ... what do you mean with '' i said locally as it is not possible to centralize this kind of information'' i mean ubuntu-be members should know where to put posters and gather the information locally. ... ok as example, you could see with bram where to put the posters, and more generally, how to promote ubuntu and our events in a'pen ... exactly in a'pen there is for example a workshop discover ubuntu organized in a'pen by another association ... here http://www.uitinantwerpen.be/eCache/ABE/80/65/597.Y29udGV4dD0zMDE0OTIx.html thanks perhaps an opportunity to have contacts ? but it needs local initiative. other comment about dipro a'pen ? if no other comment (except we will do better next time (12/9) !), next item ... ok next item : release parties Lucid Lynx 10.04lts * massimo21 (~massimo21@212.87.111.103) a rejoint #ubuntu-be 9/5 release party in brussel – dewereldmorgen.be – any comment ? who was at this event ? nobody ? no report or comment ? I wasn't ok, next 11/5 testrit with ubuntu in kortrijk – any comment ? pvandewyngaerde ? i wasn't there nothing heard from koen ? no ok, next ... 13/5 release party in ghent: mimor for comment ? so ok well... Mandel would come over and give a talk about desktopcouch, but I didn't got a reply on what hour he will be coming If there are people new to linux/ubuntu, I'll give an introductionary talk I didn't get any reply from other people willing to give a talk So it'll be more of an install party I guess what 's the timing of the rp ? starting at ? do you have cd's ? jean7491, starting at 13h hmm, i need to instal it myself on my work laptopp pvandewyngaerde, don't have cd's. going to burn some myself tonight I'm also out of laptop myself since a few weeks (got stolen) that's about it are there people planning to come by? did you asked help from kenneth ? he has at least 1 laptop in his event box nope and you could install 10.04 on this laptop if you need a laptop, try to reach him I have one, but no power to it :P there is one adapter at the space, so I'll install it on the party (still has beta 1 on it) *install it before the party ok other comment for the rp 13/5 in ghent ? are there people wanting to come over? feel free to give a talk about something :) everything is welcome I want to but I can't I have exams ok :) perhaps pieter about kubuntu ? :) ok, next event ... 16/5 ubuntu-meeting (bitmappers) in genk – comment ? details were in the last mail from fabian to the mailing list i will be there to help at the install booth ok anybody coming? I am perhaps ray, but he left the meeting and JanC said he will anything else about genk ubuntu meeting ? next event 29/5 in ostend ... 29/5 (13.30-15.00 h.) presentation/install party in ostend, with the support of the local organization Zandletters see home page http://zandletters.be/ Andrej : when i write about local initiative, i mean this kind of event, easy to organize when you look for contacts of course i'll need help for this install party: i hope to find volunteers ? anyone here who is volunteer to help ? other comment about 29/5 in ostend ? next item : other events any comment about uds or lgm meetings ? i was hoping comments from JanC, but ... no information about these meetings ? then next events in september ... Planning september: 05/09 Dipro Ghent , 12/09 Dipro Antwerp , 18/09 Software Freedom Day (activity not yet determined), 26/09 Dipro Hasselt , 26/09 Nielse Computer dag anything about lgm ? oh, you already asked, nvm nothing from my side, and no reaction! for Hasselt i can do the orgnisation * massimo21 est parti (Quit: massimo21) lgm ? thanks Clamam ! Libre Graphic Meeting ? yes Clamam : in meeting genk, perhaps you can establish contacts for dipro. have a look in a'pen report about the setup of the booth ... and more later ! it was a good idea to change the booth in that manner, if we can we will do it to. we have to see it in august for a request to dipro : the hall is big enough in hasselt - remember it later I will contact other volunteers, beginning at the ubuntumeeting on sunday and in june for the regular volunteers like Koen, Massimiliano, Hans, Lars,.... thanks ! nothing else about about events ? nop nope now topic 2 - Promotion tem #1- press release lucid lynx sent by JanC anything in the press fr or nl about lucid lynx ? Cedric Janssens sent a French one (dodn't know how/ij JanC and Cedric corrdinated themself) I'm not aware of any Ubuntu related news in the FR press. But I don't read any papers next ? as no other comment on the press release, next item #2 – public-relation team proposed in the previous meetings ? We still need volunteers to face this challenge. First step is to nominate new dutch and french press contact points feel free to be volunteer for this job ! next item (i just added) a new banner to identify our booth in the events ... exchange of ideas is going on in the mailing list comment can be post in the mailing list... other comment ? how do we agree on the final design ? a nice qestion ! remember the new poster last year ! and maybe we should try to get approval from the international official ubuntu desigers team to check we use the correct ubuntu logo style in the case we use a modified ubuntu logo perhaps If I remember correctly, modified logos are ok and there was no strict rules for LoCo. As LoCo we are free to use Ubuntu's branding material if we made it clear that we are not Ubuntu[.com] there are some guidelines in that pdf but i think that the decision will be taken by people who who are interested (and are really working in the booths) As I said, my understanding is that this is the guidlines for Ubuntu[.com]'s communications, not LoCo's Yes, people actually doing things in the wild are those who made the final decision back to the basic question of organizing the loco team, already discussed ... yep same old issue about the banner, we will continue through the mailing list ... and now going to the next topic ... topic 3 support points map status But again, one can make a propositions call, let every one submit and organize a poll (on Launchpad or anywhere else) to select a submission. map.ubuntu-be.org is offline since the web server outage on Lucid release (which was unrelated to the release and Cedric's departure) I'll take action tomorrow to redirect map.ubuntu-be.org to a landing page on ubuntu-be.org with explanation on where we are and where we are going to regarding the map Then I'll proceed to install the replacement module. do you foreseen a re-application of the existing support points ? Once it's done, I'll work on the migration script. The plan is to migrate data for users registered on the old map.ubuntu-be.org and on ubuntu-be.org. And to provide a list of those who don't have an account on ubuntu-be.org so they can be emailed. For user with accounts on both site, the plan is to migrate the data (ie. addresses, location, name and spoken languages. matching is done on email address) account on ubuntu-be.org : do you mean launchpad ? Yes, ount on Launchpad used, at least once, to login on ubuntu-be.org there is no check if they still wish to be support point ? i mean for those with launchpad account Sorry, I didn't finish the sentence. The plan is to migrate their data (ie. address, etc.) but not their "commitments" So they will need to connect to the site and to commit to something to become active support points. ok what about the general brown style of the site , are we switching to the purple/orange lucid style ? We will also need to email them pvandewyngaerde: Yes, the Ubuntu-drupal-theme has been updated to Lucid style is that already online somewhere where i can see it ? I should proceed to the upgrade tomorrow or later this WE once the map redirect and replacement module are working http://staging.profarius.com/ http://www.ubuntu-qc.org/drupal/ pvandewyngaerde: ^ oh dear, we should send them our screenshot nice style An Ubuntu-za has also published his (or her, I don't know) own theme, see http://ubuntu-za.org/ An Ubuntu-za member... nice they have put a za after the new ubuntu logo Imho, putting the country code after the logo is a good idea only if its font match the original font. Othzerwise it looks clumsy the za site does not render ok in IE which one 6, 7, 8 (9 ?) 7 here i really need to install ubuntu on my worklaptop anything else about the support map ? if not, next topic I think that's it for Support Points Map and website updates +/- ... topic 4 – things living in the mailing list item #1 : new ways/events to promote ubuntu: remember : again, all suggestions are welcome, everybody can look for contact and propose activities – and it works ! See ostend (29/5) and niel (26/9) if no comment, next item item #2 : update of the wiki (an old item still valid) the wiki page belgianteam/responsibility should be updated at least with new fr and nl press contact points, dns and ubuntu-be.org and after that, the website should be updated as the (press) nl and fr contacts (in home page) are not correct Mike VDB for nl contacts and cedric for fr contact https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BelgianTeam/Responsibility?action=diff&rev2=34&rev1=33 Whois is the current dutch press contact ? no idea as mark does not have time to do it afaik i hope JanC has an answer, but ... ? if no other comment, ... other questions not in the agenda ? no no if no other question, i propose next irc meeting on 19/5 at 21 h. ok for me, I'll try to be there for updates on the website i will be here thanks to all for your active participation to this meeting ! have a good night ! good night all * Clamam (~claudio@d54C1F6FD.access.telenet.be) a quitté #ubuntu-be
