I arrived at 13h (and something) and left at 3am in the morning >< it was your 2d organized release party ! I wouldn't say organized... but it turned out good :D ok, any lessons learned for the next one ? for exampe location ? promotion ? how to contact people ? wouldn't it be a good idea to create eventpages on facebook to invite new people? Or do they already exist? no facebook should not be a way to contact people or let me put it this way I won't make one (out of principle), but if someone wants to make one... they can :D I know but for now it's one way to contact more people I guess. promotion: blogpost, post it on http://www.uitingent.be/, mailinglist Don't know the habits of these events ;) and mouth to mouth things I just think that people rely too much on facebook... and make events to be something exclusive to non-facebook users I won't create facebook pages myself, but I'd say everybody who's on Facebook (or Netlog or whatever) is very welcome to promote Ubuntu events I follow ubuntu on facebook :) and I post links to my blogpost on my facebook as do I put it on twitter i 2 follow ubuntu on Facebook and i have send a message on that group about the ubuntu-meeting 16-05 @ Genk. I went to Genk, but saw only the last 2 sessions. other comment about the rp in ghent ? location was awesome I don't have a facebook account because I distrust the company (they know nothing about security) & one of their investors (who is a fascist) but if other people want to, they are free to do :-) Maybe I will create some ;) but I have never attended one. So I can't promote it a lot. I Intend to go to one though where are you located gadeynebram ? * t00r est parti (Read error: Connection reset by peer) * t00r_ (~t00r@unaffiliated/t00r) a rejoint #ubuntu-be During the week in Ghent, In the weekends in Blankenberge. But I'm a student so Ostend isn't a possibility ;) let's go to the next event ... 16/5 ubuntu-meeting (bitmappers) in genk comment /report ? brb * gadeynebram est parti (Remote host closed the connection) I was there * mongolito404 est parti (Remote host closed the connection) the 2 talks I saw (Virtualbox & gaming on Linux) were aimed for starters * gadeynebram (~gadeynebr@83.101.71.95) a rejoint #ubuntu-be it started at 10am but I was longer in the car going there than I was in there :s it was a great event with a lot of interesting people. looked professional! location was enormously perfect also sweet with sponsors etc. i was there with massimo21 @ the install booth shows people there is commerce with linux :) not as many visitors as in Herk-de-Stad, but a big location that, if I understand correctly, we might be able to use again in the future the talk I saw about OOo wasn't too good :-/ also cool that the 'schepen' was there I had soem interesting talks with people though does anyone know if there will be some presentations or other documentations available? I guess Clamam / massimo21 might know that ? i don't know about organisation whit presentators i think they work for Xtend next time I might give a more advanced talk, but this time I didn't really want to volunteer anything as I was at UDS the week before ;) ther also was a fon rappresentator massimo21: who worked for Xtend ? the guy oresented games on linux it might be useful to ask presenters for slides and publish them somewhere on the site there are some presenations on the web http://www.dominiquevdb.be/, he gave the presentation about ubuntu server i don't have the contacts tnx a lot! I suppose Fabian has probably The bitmappers did a great job with this party and with the help of sponsors and stad Genk they have burned the cd with the cd-burners of De Stad Genk and the remaining cd's fabian gave to me for future fairs. It was big organaised, there was a flyer distibution in Genk, Hasselt, stores etc... even on the local radio indeed the bitmappers is a club with experience and ressources it coud not be possible whitout a club such as bitmappers they do some good work indeed but maybe we should move on to the next item (I don't want the irc meeting to take 3h ;) ) ok ok there was 160 people by the way whitout volounteers ok, next item : other events like UDS – report JanC ? * Clamam (~claudio@d54C1F823.access.telenet.be) a quitté #ubuntu-be UDS was great: fun, interesting, lots of work being done, tiresome -- but great one of the results for locoteams is that we might get a good quality Ubuntu banner * massimo21 (~massimo21@212.87.115.12) a quitté #ubuntu-be soem of the sessions might have been interesting for peopel who help organise events too * Clamam (~claudio@d54C1F823.access.telenet.be) a rejoint #ubuntu-be not sure what you all want to know? ☺ about UDS i just read a short report on planet.ubuntu-fr.org, what do you mean about organizing events ? there were some sessions about organising events & such, and about how Canonical could help with that with Jane (new Canonical CEO) attending thats' where the banner was proposed as it's much more useful than e.g. the English language flyers in the conference pack and she agreed with that ok, if you have more "about organising events & such, and about how Canonical could help with that", please send me a mail about the banner, we come back in a next topic basically it might be useful for more people to attend the sessions, e.g. from remote (using the audio streams, IRC & gobby) if you have reference of ressources, please mail it in the mailing list oh, and the new font should be released in beta "somewhere soon" (limited beta) next item : about lgm ? i don't know when ? and if we are concerned ? I will be at LGM and present opensource/linux/ubuntu to graphics students, and there will be Ubuntu PCs or multiseat there if anybody wants to show up, they are also welcome of course please inform the mailing list about that ! right next item : planning september ... what we know : 05/09 Dipro Ghent , 12/09 Dipro Antwerp , 18/09 Software Freedom Day, 26/09 Dipro Hasselt , 26/09 Nielse Computer dag do you know other possible events ? are there proposals for the software freedom day (18/9) ? I have to leave now. Succes with the meeting * gadeynebram (~gadeynebr@83.101.71.95) a quitté #ubuntu-be ok, bye bram no comment : ok, we see it later about release parties 10 about release parties 10.04 i forgot 1 event 29/5 (13.30-15.00 h.) presentation/install party in ostend, with the support of the local organization Zandletters see home page http://zandletters.be/ and if interested, we need help and visitors ! I will be at LGM then... ok we continue with topic 2 - Promotion still useful for others to go there of course of course item #1- public-relation team proposed in previous meetings first step is to nominate new dutch and french press contact points : good news with application nicolas as fr press contact i propose we accept nicolas as fr press contact any reaction ? ? are there other candidates as fr or nl press contact ? JanC Clamam pvandewyngaerde mimor ? nope jean7491: I already agreed with Nicolas as French press contact no I'm okay with being an email press contact, but not really radio or TV ;) for nicolas, can you confirm the nomination in the mailing list and wiki ? Jan Bongaerts wants to be an .nl press contact maybe, but I don't know him very well and he's not always available anyway for the nl press contact, i suggest we look further for a nl press contact but first is to confirm nicolas nomination someone has to confirm nicolas nomination : JanC , can you do it ? are we sure Cédric doesn't want to help with that anymore? you read his mail the mail where he was upset about what I think was a misunderstanding? i don't think it is about misunderstanding i think he is no more interested in active rol in ubuntu-be and btw better a team of several press contacts who can coordinate actions yeah, that's why he might still want to help I'd prefer if things happen more on the ML what do you mean ? well, things like preparing press releases, events, etc. it's also something we've been discussing at UDS not only for locoteams i think that's what we did, and why i asked info about lgm and nicolas nomination in the mailing list and why i'm writing irc reports yes, of course but some discussions are done off-list or in private messages when there is no real need just that we need to think about that more we can exchange ideas through the ml, but at one moment we need a decision (like for nicolas) and the ml takes no decision that's what this meeting is for, partially, and we decided anything else on the agenda? i come back : no decision was taken about nicolas as only you wrote "I already agreed with Nicolas as French press contact" if the participants to the meeting do not agree formally, there is no decision, and i can not write it in the report i agree for nicolas as French press contact. +1 i understand now 3 yes, are there "no" from anyone ? * Stijndg est parti (Ping timeout: 260 seconds) pvandewyngaerde mimor ? as pvandewyngaerde and mimor do not react, i suppose they agree ? next item item #2 – Update material - banner for ubuntu-be (to use in events to identify our booth) i suggested we use “belgian team” in place of the official “belgian loco team” – any comment or opposition ? jean7491: if nobody disagrees, that's a "decision by absence of protest" IMO ;) about uds " the banner was proposed" : was can we expect ? ideas ? files ? material ? ok for decision * Enissay (~Enissay@unaffiliated/enissay) a rejoint #ubuntu-be jean7491: I would have to check about the name we use, personally I'd prefer we use "ubuntu-be.org" as the name for our team instead that way, people also immediately know our website address ;) jean7491: the banner was proposed and Canonical CEO agreed it was a good idea, so I'm 99% sure we'll get it, but not sure when ok for ubuntu-be.org, no problem as banner, is it better to use the logo on white background od orange ? well, it's a proposal, I'm happy to hear others give their opinion on it not sure about the banner ok, i'll try projects of new design we might want to get together for a real-life meeting with some people... and do that occasionally (like, at least every 6 months or so) ok, with a good preparation and agenda good idea ! do you have yet proposition ? I have no propositions for todays meeting it's already way too late again ;) indeed, we already cover the rest of the agenda, and no new info from mongolito404 just update of the wiki belgianteam/responsibility and next meeting proposed on 26/5 at 21 h. do you have other item ? nothing else for today ? end of meeting ? I probably won't be around on 26/5 (depends if I have internet at that time) ok, bye bye and good night :P * Clamam (~claudio@d54C1F823.access.telenet.be) a quitté #ubuntu-be ok JanC, bye
