<jean7491> Hi to all, who is here for the meeting ?Hello XiaoShiZi, nero_
<nero_> check
<ramtar> Hi everybody
<JanC> o/
<jean7491> hello ramtar , JanC
<ramtar> hi
<mongolito404> Hi
<mimor> jup I am
<jean7491> hello mongolito404 and mimor
<JanC> mongolito404: did you see http://blog.canonical.com/?p=330 ?
<mongolito404> JanC: yes
<mongolito404> And I discussed it in #ubuntu-drupal
* pvandewyngaerde (~id984031@90.232-245-81.adsl-dyn.isp.belgacom.be) a rejoint #ubuntu-be
<pvandewyngaerde> hi
<mongolito404> Stuart Metcalfe is the main dev. for the Drupal Launchpad integration (based on OpenID).
<mimor> JanC, will it be bound to the launchpad too?
<JanC> mimor: read that blog article ;)
<mongolito404> It seems that Canonical has paying client using it, so it is very likely that whatever Canonical plans are for LP/Ubuntu-sso it will be supported in the module.
<mimor> JanC, as I understand it they migrate the exisiting launchpad accounts to the ubuntu slo
<mimor> but not the other way
<mongolito404> mimor: My understanding is that LP and Ubuntu-sso will coexists as OpenID provider for a certain period.
<jean7491> i suggest we start within a few minutes with a change in the agenda : first the topic "support map update", and after that the "future events"
<mongolito404> But at the end, Ubuntu-sso will replace LP as a OpenID provider and LP will use OpenID (or only Ubuntu-sso) for authentication.
<mimor> ok
<mimor> that's what I was wondering
<mimor> otherwise 'new' users would have to create a seperate login for launchpad to use apport
<jean7491> hello pvandewyngaerde
<mongolito404> Shall we start the meeting ?
<jean7491> let's start now with the topic "support map" ...
<jean7491> mongolito404 ?
<jean7491> i've no info
<mongolito404> I finally took the time tu pot something online for all to see and test. it is available http://ubuntu.gwickt.com/drupal6/
<pvandewyngaerde> s/tu pot/to put
<mongolito404> thx
<LarsB> +1
<mongolito404> Everybody is invited to register there to test it.
<mongolito404> I'm already aware of one issue: you can't use the contact form when your are not logged. And there is a potential solution for this (http://drupal.org/project/contact/).
<JanC> yeah, we can't request that people register first
<mongolito404> Right, I assumed Drupal 'core' would let the form be used by non-registred visitor but I didn't check until today.
<mongolito404> But it's ok since there is a module (in dev, but already available) for it.
<mongolito404> (fixed)
<ramtar> wich module it is?
<mongolito404> ramtar: which module is what ?
<ramtar> the module in dev?
<mongolito404> http://drupal.org/project/contact/
<mongolito404> The good news is: the code is wokring (or seems to be) and can be tested. The bad news is: no map, only a list
<ramtar> it is possible to use the gmap module with the list?
<mongolito404> The next step is to get as many test (and bug report) from the community during my vacation (I'll be away) so I can finish finish and release version 0.1 during March
<mongolito404> ramtar: Probably. But I believe the OpenLayers module is the ''way of the future'' for mapping in Drupal.
<JanC> that can use both google maps or open streetmap IIRC?
<mongolito404> ramtar: But if you have time to experiment, please do. Any feedback of what works and how it can be made is a step in the right direction.
<mongolito404> The code is open source and actually pretty short (see https://launchpad.net/support.points.map) so anybody can contribute, all patch are welcome.
<JanC> the code for the module is at https://code.launchpad.net/support.points.map BTW
<JanC> right ☺
<ramtar> Thanks I will see that
<mongolito404> Translations are ongoing by the magic of Launchpad (see https://translations.launchpad.net/support.points.map)
<mongolito404> Translations are automatically extracted from and pushed into the code repository by Launchpad.
<mongolito404> So thing are going on, slowly but, imho, in the right direction.
<jean7491> ok, anything to add ?
<mongolito404> I don't
<jean7491> now test period for this project ... thx mongolito404

<JanC> hm, we'd probably better burn more, or we'll need several computers to burn CDs
<JanC> I can burn some too, but not sure how many CD-Rs I've left
<nero_> I'm out of blanco's
<jean7491> i've for you 20 home-burned cd's and in addition 30 (home-printed) cd sleeves

<jean7491> ok, i'll mail the question to indra

<jean7491> i'll ask to indra
<JanC> nero_: right, and I'd rather not have to get up at 6 o'clock ;)
<JanC> nero_: but if I arrive later, that should be no problem, right?
<nero_> fair starts ap 10:00 for public
<JanC> yep, will be well on time for that
<JanC> but 8h30 is a bit too early for me ;)
<nero_> np
<jean7491> something else for a'pen ?
<JanC> should I bring my tuxdroid?

<JanC> do we have network?
<JanC> and what about power strips?
<nero_> yes, cabled
<JanC> HCC will have enough network ports?
<nero_> I'll bring an 8 and a 4 point
<JanC> and a 10 Gbit uplink to Belnet like at FOSDEM? ;-)
<JanC> (j/k)
<nero_> and a 16p switch
<nero_> ??
<JanC> j/k = just kidding, I know there is no 10 Gbit fiber to the core of the Belgian internet at Antwerp Expo ;)
<nero_> lol
* pvandewyngaerde est parti (Ping timeout: 252 seconds)
* siegie (~quassel@unaffiliated/siegie) a rejoint #ubuntu-be
<JanC> they did have that at FOSDEM, after testing this year, next year they will stream all the main talks live next year
<nero_> FOSDEM was at the university, a pioneer of internet in Belgium
<yva> JanC> so that you don't miss the HTML5 conf ;)
<jean7491> if nothing else for a'pen, next item ? (hi siegie , JanC will bring material for you in a'pen)
<JanC> siegie will be there on Sat too right?
<siegie> okey, i've read the mail
<siegie> JanC: yes I'll be there satterday,
<JanC> okay, that makes it easy
<jean7491> next item : dipro brugge 28/02
<jean7491> for now, only 3 volunteers in the team (wiki) : this is likely enough for such a fair, but additional (new) volunteers are still welcome !
<jean7491> wiki : https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BelgianTeam/ComputerFairs/Brugge_2010-02-28
<jean7491> JanC anything else for dipro brugge ?
<JanC> certainly, new volunteers can get experience for when some of the regulars can't help
<JanC> and more volunteers = more time for the others to get a little rest, get some food/drink & walk around the fair
<jean7491> indeed, but i had no reaction of support points of the region, if you have other contacts ?
* Carroarmato0 (~Carroarma@188.188.104.66) a rejoint #ubuntu-be
<JanC> not that I know of right now
<jean7491> ok, next item : dipro charleroi 07/03
<JanC> I guess Cédric will take care of that?
<jean7491> https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BelgianTeam/ComputerFairs/Charleroi_2010-03-07
<jean7491> ramtar , I understood you are in charge of this event ? Something to add for now ?
<ramtar> Yes
* pvandewyngaerde (~id984031@90.232-245-81.adsl-dyn.isp.belgacom.be) a rejoint #ubuntu-be
<ramtar> Cédric is helping me for this event
<JanC> ah okay
<ramtar> I gonna give me for the material
<ramtar> and i have volunteer
<JanC> cool to see somebody "new" (for me at least :) )
<ramtar> two LUG culbutte
<ramtar> and clic
<ramtar> from braine l alleud and charleroi
<ramtar> I think we will about 5 or 6 people for this event or maybe more
<ramtar> and i contact two other volunteer
<JanC> that should be enough
<ramtar> and for material I have to see Cedric for promotional stuff and for computer I have my notebook, a Desktop with 22 inch screen, and Lug gonna take PC
<ramtar> I have done 3 Dipro (2 Charleroi and 1 Liege) I think it will be ok for my first Dipro organised by myself :)
<jean7491> ok, we always have to start organizing ! we will see with cedric about posters, did you checked the available promo material (files) available in the wiki ?
<JanC> hm, Dipro doesn't do the fair in Liège anymore because the expo hall was too expensive
<ramtar> I know...
<ramtar> for the moment there is juste Dipro in Charleroi
<ramtar> i don't see dipro in Namur this year :S
<JanC> if anybody knows not-too-expensive expo halls in Wallonia, please tell dipro ;-)
<JanC> they told me they actually want to do more fairs
<ramtar> I remember it
<ramtar> :)
<JanC> maybe told you too in Charleroi last time
<JanC> maybe Frenhc posters can be got/bought from ubuntu-fr too...
<JanC> French
<ramtar> I will see, culbutte told me they have took poster in FOSDEM for the Dipro
<JanC> that was probably a Dutch language one then? or maybe just a linux penguin poster?
<JanC> penguins are always nice to attract the kids ;-)
<ramtar> yes
<ramtar> I have noticed one thing for the dipro
<ramtar> the wallpaper are very important
<ramtar> last time i took a strange wallpaper and a lot of people to see what is it
<ramtar> and then i get the occasion to speak to people :)
<jean7491> anything else for now ?
<yva> jean7491> just take the opportunity to introduce myself at some point ;)
<jean7491> go on
<ramtar> yes
<ramtar> It's the first time i speak on an Ubuntu irc meeting
<ramtar> but i have a subject to introduce
<ramtar> when i have to do it?
<ramtar> in the list or i introduce it and we talk about it next meeting?
<yva> Oh, I'm a ubuntu user since 2 years now. I met some of you at FOSDEM this year. working in LLN and living in liège and available to help (when possible) for fair or install parties
<JanC> it's okay to talk about it here first ramtar
<yva> (but don't know the name of the persons I met at FOSDEM)
<JanC> yva: maybe you can help ramtar in Charleroi ☺
<JanC> yva: I was at the booth, but not all the time, so depends when you was at the booth ☺
<ramtar> yes :)
<ramtar> for my subject i introduce it quickly
<yva> JanC depends on how you look like ;) tall and speaking deutch?
<jean7491> ramtar : new subject not related with agenda, if possible after the other points on the agenda or suggestion for next week
<ramtar> ok no matter, notice me after the end to speak about it
<yva> ramtar> I might be available, I have to check first but 'll recontact you if it's possible
<ramtar> okay
<yva> ramtar> where do you live/how do you go there?
<JanC> yva: I have long hair and wore an "ubuntu guru" t-shirt and spoke Dutch & English
<jean7491> ramtar : send your email address to yva via pm
<yva> JanC so it was probably you ;)
<JanC> and some bad French maybe ;)
<ramtar> yva > i live in Charleroi and i am three street far from the Dipro
<yva> ramtar> ok
<JanC> jean7491: next item?
<jean7491> thx yva and ramtar, next item digital week 06-12/03
<jean7491> we have a suggestion for 07/03 in bree, i've a contact with another jan who could be help there, i'm waiting news from him
<jean7491> another event in this digital week is in ostend

<jean7491> additional volunteers are welcome (at 12-13 hr and 19-20 hr.) on 11/03
* Carroarmato0 est parti (Quit: Sto andando via)
<jean7491> see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BelgianTeam/DigitalWeek-Ostend_2010-03-11
<jean7491> i'm hoping for local help , wait and see
* pvandewyngaerde est parti (Ping timeout: 272 seconds)
<jean7491> we will speak next week about dipro mechelen and oostmalle
<jean7491> anything else about events ?
<jean7491> i mean future events
<jean7491> if not, topic 2 - Promotion material
<jean7491> Comment about the proposal to burn CD's for Ubuntu-be ? See last week reports (in the wiki)
<jean7491> we are looking for volunteers to lead this project and to investigate the possibilities, including prices-offers : are there volunteers ?
<jean7491> if no volunteers, comments ?
<jean7491> if no comment, we skip it ?
<JanC> yep, next item
<jean7491> as we already spoke about support map topic 4 – things living in the mailing list
<jean7491> first item : as already mentioned earlier, we should find new ways/events to promote ubuntu: all suggestions are welcome, like open-doors organized by schools, hobby fairs locally organized by associations or cities, and more recently and open ict day
<yva> jean7491> install parties?
<ramtar> I have a new type/way
* Enissay (~Enissay@unaffiliated/enissay) a rejoint #ubuntu-be
<yva> (that's always what frighten the most people)
<ramtar> game
<ramtar> :)
<ramtar> Gnu/Lan Party
<JanC> install partities are useful for people wanting to use Ubuntu
<ramtar> that's what i would like to organise for my event
<JanC> but first people need to learn about Ubuntu ;)
<JanC> so we need both
<JanC> ramtar: if you can find a public, please do
<jean7491> local initiative is the key of success : everybody can look for contact and propose activities, then the events team can investigate the possibilities for execution
<yva> JanC> yep sure but are a lot of parties already organised?
<JanC> yva: not a lot, mostly by computer clubs & LUGs
<yva> JanC> That's what I thought and honestly that's the hardest step (imho)
<yva> (given the "risks" for your laptop)
<JanC> ramtar: maybe you want to talk to Matthew from Ostend too, as he organises LAN parties IIRC
<JanC> not open source LAN parties, but he should have the hardware needed for a LAN party ;)
<ramtar> no matter for hardware
<JanC> and maybe contacts
<ramtar> in my school we have a special local where we made Lan Party
<JanC> 24 port gigabit switches and stuff like that ;)
<ramtar> yes :)
* JanC is not a gamer
<JanC> but please propose it on the list
<ramtar> but i think it's a good idea to contact him
<jean7491> risk for own material : for this reason we are try to constitute event boxes
* pvandewyngaerde (~id984031@90.232-245-81.adsl-dyn.isp.belgacom.be) a rejoint #ubuntu-be
<ramtar> if the Gnu/Lan party is a success we can made other event in Belgium with Matthew
<jean7491> about matthew, as he start a stage in uk, he wil not be available for months !
<JanC> well, he might be available for input
<ramtar> I gonna contact other of my friends. But when he come back Belgium i will contact him
<pvandewyngaerde> stage ?? internship ?
<JanC> internship yes
<jean7491> the main problem is to find some who say " i'll do it" , then we can support initiatives as much as we can
<JanC> so if ramtar organises it, we say: "go!"
<JanC>
<ramtar> i'll do it :)
<ramtar> I think we have to take other way to promote Ubuntu
<JanC> more ways is always better
<ramtar> a lot of people are interested to manipulate photo or video
* pvandewyngaerde1 est parti (Ping timeout: 272 seconds)
<ramtar> i think make activities to teach people how to do something like that is goof
<ramtar> good*
* yva est parti (Quit: Ex-Chat)
<ramtar> for an example in my school I made a special activities with GIMP
<ramtar> and a lot of people come to this activity
<JanC> we are also asked by the people from LGM 2010 (Libre Graphics Meeting)
<JanC> it's in Brussels this year, and the day before the conference they want to do workshops for graphics students
<JanC> they asked us to give an introduction to linux/Ubuntu, and after that they will give workshops about the open source graphics software
<ramtar> It's good
<JanC> (they run an all-open-source design agency in Brussels)
<ramtar> pretty good :)
<JanC> and won the biggest book design price in Belgium last year ;)
<ramtar> actually they are a lot of powerful programs for graphics
<ramtar> like Gimp, Blender :]
<JanC> yeah, the developers of all those applications will be in Brussels for LGM !
<JanC> http://www.libregraphicsmeeting.org/2010/
<JanC> it's at the end of May
<ramtar> :)
<jean7491> ok, i will add about lgm in the meeting report
<JanC> I need some more info from them, then I'll ask for volunteers for the Ubuntu session on Wednesday
<ramtar> i will add it in agendadulibre.be
<ramtar> about agendadulibre.be I made agendadulibre.be with a friend from the lug laclic and we would like to make an NL and EN version and we need volunteers to work on a NL version
<ramtar> we gonna work on the interface to make traduction easier
<jean7491> ramtar : as you said " i'll do it " please send us later details about your project - as i already said, all suggestions are welcome, and rather with someone taking the initiative
<ramtar> ok i will send email to ubuntu list tomorow :)
<JanC> cool
<jean7491> ok, i suggest we go to the next item - reapproval
<JanC> any other things on or off the agenda that need to be discussed?
<jean7491> about the procedure for re-approval-application : the loco council has review yesterday our re-approval application, but did not yet vote due to not enough loco council members in the meeting. Vote will occur offline but no doubt on the result.
<JanC> yeh, should be no problem
<jean7491> my last item is the suggestion of a monthly report : we are still looking for a volunteer !
<jean7491> but i suppose we have to skip it for now !
<JanC> unless somebody volunteers *now* ;)
<ramtar> i would like to help but my english is horrible (i think you see that today)
<jean7491> now it is time for other things off the agenda
<jean7491> ramtar ?
<ramtar> yes?
<JanC> maybe the LAN party was his proposal?
<ramtar> yes
<ramtar> in fact it's a part of the event
<jean7491> something to add ?
<ramtar> I would like to organise an event in my school in ecaussinnes
<ramtar> but a big event with more than juste intall party
<ramtar> i have the approval from my school
<ramtar> and i wil have about three or four local
<ramtar> with projector
<ramtar> and one special for lan party
<ramtar> and i would like to do an Ubuntu Day special for wallonnie
<JanC> make sure everything works perfectly before ☺
<ramtar> Cause Ecaussinnes is near Charleroi, Mons, La Louvière, Bruxelles is not too far
<ramtar> So it a good place
<JanC> you'd do it as a sort of a release party?
<ramtar> yes for the 10.04
<JanC> cool
<ramtar> and i would like to do special day with Install Party Gnu Lan Party and conference
<ramtar> I have some contact for conference
<JanC> you mean some talks in French?
<ramtar> I think for an example of Aurélien Paulus who is a friend and who made the conference "Libre ce Soir"
<JanC> for end-users, or?
<ramtar> and of course made the excellent brochure discover Ubuntu
<ramtar> for all people, for Linuxian and for people who want to discover Ubuntu
* pvandewyngaerde (~id984031@90.232-245-81.adsl-dyn.isp.belgacom.be) a quitté #ubuntu-be
<JanC> yeah, well, I mean, talks that can be understood by non-linuxians ;)
<ramtar> yes of course
<ramtar> Aurélien is very good to do that
<JanC> nice
<XiaoShiZi> http://www.aurelienpaulus.net/decouvrez-ubuntu/
<ramtar> I think it's also a good way to show that there is LUG too to help people
<JanC> there aren't many LUG in Flanders ;)
<ramtar> Oh i think there are a lot of LUG in Flanders
<JanC> but some computer clubs have a linux chapter
<ramtar> okay
<JanC> ramtar: I mean LUGs that are alive ;)
<ramtar> :)
<ramtar> That's the big problem of the lug
<JanC> lugwv & lugov haven't had a meeting in years
<JanC> fortunately there is linuxbabbel in West-Vlaanderen now
<ramtar> cool :)
<JanC> which refuses to be called a LUG
<ramtar> :S
<JanC> most LUGs have/had a rather hardcore reputation
<JanC> not always very newbie-friendly
<ramtar> that's the big problem of the Lug
<ramtar> and I think a good think to do it's to try to work with lug
<ramtar> to make lug user friendly :p
<ramtar> for an example the project kot LLnux
<JanC> some LUGWV people now attend linuxbabbel meetings, so the knowledge is now used there
<ramtar> don't want to have linuxian who is too technical linuxian.
<ramtar> I think a good think is to invite lug to have more women in LUG
<ramtar> i think is a big problem
<ramtar> we have this image of the linuxian with big glasses
<JanC>
<JanC> there is 1 woman who attends linuxbabbel regularly
<ramtar> I read an article about woman in open source project
* XiaoShiZi est parti (Quit: Ik ga weg)
<ramtar> they talk about to suggest to invite woman to participate to the organisation for example
<JanC> I've read several (as a member of ubuntu-women, I have to ;) )
<ramtar> :)
<JanC> and LGM 2010 is organised by a woman (well, a team really, but she does a lot of the work) !
<JanC> the BXLUG chair is a woman too
<JanC> so, it's not always that bad
* ramtar est parti (Read error: Connection reset by peer)
* ramtar (~ramtar@host-213-213-231-233.brutele.be) a rejoint #ubuntu-be
<jean7491> ramtar, about your Ubuntu Day project, perhaps you could with writing a summary how you see it and mail it (starting with JanC and me, and who is interested ?)
<ramtar> okay
<ramtar> it will be a pleasure :)
<jean7491> other question for this evening ?
<ramtar> for me it's okay
<ramtar> :)
<jean7491> if not, last topic - next meeting on 24/02/2010 at 21 h.
<ramtar> sorry in advance if i cant come but I am at school the evening
<jean7491> thanks for your participation, see you next week ! and we can close the today's meeting !
<jean7491> ok ramtar
<ramtar> thanks and see you ;)
* ramtar est parti (Quit: Quitte)
<JanC> well, if people want to attend & another day of the week is preferred, that can be discussed too...
