<jean7491> let's start now with topic 1 – past and future events
<jean7491> about the digital week 6-12/03
<jean7491> no information from schoten ?
<jean7491> rulus ?
<rulus> it was nice, but I didn't stay a very long time
<rulus> very nice location, quite a lot of visitors (more as last year)
<rulus> lot of multiseat pc's
<rulus> sessions were very 'intimate', lot of time to ask questions :)
<JanC> good
<jean7491> how were the sessions organized ? how many presentators? what? how long ?
<rulus> I think about 5/6 presentators, giving live demonstration on their laptop connected to a beamer
<rulus> about Ubuntu, Gimp, Drupal, Voip mostly
<rulus> length varying around an average of ca. 30 I guess
<rulus> minutes that is
<jean7491> sorry, my pc crashed ! i lost messages after "minutes that is"
<rulus> there weren't any :)
<pvandewyngaerde> is that a ubuntu pc that crashed ?

<JanC> jean7491: you didn't really miss anything
<jean7491> ok, a few words about ostend
<jean7491> on 11/03, ubuntu-be has been presented in ostend (bibliotheek Kris Lambert) in 2 sessions.
<jean7491> about 25 people at noon and 12 people in the evening assist to the presentation, public was interested with a lot of questions
<jean7491> Not enough time at noon, and 45 min questions and exchanges in the evening.
<jean7491> approx 30 min for 4 presentations, see wiki
<jean7491> https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BelgianTeam/DigitalWeek-Ostend_2010-03-11
<jean7491> for me, very positive experience, imho we should repeat such a presentation at other time and place to reach a larger public.
<jean7491> hello pvandewyngaerde , and thanks for your help in ostend
<pvandewyngaerde> anytime, but it was short for me
<jean7491> short but you helped me!
<jean7491> i hope ubuntu-be will be more present in the digital week 2011 ! but it needs local contacts
<jean7491> comment ?
<JanC> digitale week or other events, *everything* done is useful of course
<jean7491> next item : dipro mechelen 14/3 - report
<jean7491> nero_ , do you have something to report now
<nero> as I mentioned in my mail, we had a lot interest before 14:00
<nero> afterwards there were less visitors at the fair
<JanC> that's not uncommon
<nero> questions were very differentiated
<JanC> probably also some cycling race going on...
<nero> visitors tend to come early
<nero> our internet connection came in handy at several occasions
<nero> there was some interest for the upcoming release parties
<nero> we received enough gifts to pay the booth
<nero> there's even something left over
<JanC> nice
<jean7491> thanks nero for the report, anything else to add ?
<nero> I did send you a short report in Dutch, will you puplish the relevant parts?
<jean7491> ok, i'do (only for dipro mechelen)
<jean7491> don't forget the pics
<nero> what size is best for publishing?
<jean7491> don't know, i do it <200 ko in +/- 700x500
<nero> I'll try that
<jean7491> eventually send me the pics and i'll do it
<jean7491> next item : dipro oostmalle 21/3
<JanC> do we have volunteers?
<jean7491> 2 volunteers are in the wiki,
<jean7491> of course we still need 1 or 2 additional volunteers for the booth ...
<jean7491> but no last minute information from siegie ...
<JanC> well, 2 could also work maybe, but we need their confirmation
<siegie> i'm just home
<siegie> At the moment there's only me and rulus, there was no response on the call on the ubuntu-nl forum. Only one person who can maybe help in gent.
<siegie> I've contacted ertai to but, he had something in eindhoven.
<JanC> can you do the fair with two people?
<siegie> I have the material in my home (cd, posters), so it would a waste if we can't do the fair
<rulus> I'm available sunday, no problem to do it with 2 for me
<JanC> if you & rulus are okay with it, I can order the booth
<siegie> rulus: do you think it's possible with 2 people, last time in oostmalle there where not so many people.
<siegie> ah okey :)
<rulus> don't know how many people normally come, but I don't expect huge buses arriving in Oostmalle :P
<JanC> why not?
<rulus> it's been a long time since I've been at a dipro fair
<jean7491> siegie : of course you can use for oostmalle the material that you had for jan vanbogget in bree
<rulus> JanC: well, it's not a very big city I think, but I can be wrong
<siegie> jean7491: yes i think, it would but difficult to bring the cd 9.10 to another fair before the release :)
<siegie> rulus, I will update the wiki, this evening. Material that i can bring etc..
<nero> Saturday I have to go to Breda, can I pass by someone to bring pannels & 9.10 cd's leftover?
<rulus> ok nice :)
<siegie> JanC: do you oder the booth?
<JanC> I'll order the booth
<siegie> Okey thanks :)
<JanC> I also still have 9.10 CDs here, but too late to get them to A'pen I guess
<JanC> I wonder if we can get them to Genk maybe
<JanC> otherwise, we can use them in Ghent, but of course that's just before the release
<jean7491> genk of ghent, we will see ... ?
* bbartek (~bb@ubuntu/member/bbartek) a rejoint #ubuntu-be
<JanC> I can mail some to siegie or rulus, but not sure if 1 day will be enough for the Post to deliver
<JanC> hello bbartek
* hfsdo est parti (Quit: Leaving)
<rulus> nero: you mean to me or siegie?
<jean7491> rulus or siegie : nero had material for you (pannels and cd's), can you give a rendez-vous on saturday when he is going to breda
<nero> yep
<rulus> I live not that far from the E19, exit 4
<rulus> let me check
<rulus> you can leave the E19 at exit 4, pass at my house and then take nr. 3 again to continue to Breda
<jean7491> rulus , siegie : you can see the pannels with posters in the wiki brugge picture nr 2 - https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BelgianTeam/ComputerFairs/Brugge_2010-02-28
<rulus> or we can meet at the P+R at exit 4
<nero> actually I don't have a clue of my return time
<bbartek> plop JanC :-)
<nero> in the morning it will be ± 09:00
<nero> return foreseen about 17:00h
<rulus> no problem
<jean7491> rulus , nero : can you exchange your information (gsm nr ?) for the contact through pm or dialog
<JanC> nero/rulus: you both can talk about this in private I suppose, then we can move on with the meeting
<rulus> sure, will do
<nero> sure
<jean7491> thanks, anything else for oostmalle ?
<siegie> I think not
<jean7491> ok next item : dipro genk 28/3
<jean7491> claudio will coordinate the booth, for the moment, only 2 volunteers
* bbartek est parti (Quit: Ik ga weg)
<jean7491> claudio is looking for more volunteers (if possible !)
<jean7491> next item ...
<jean7491> dipro ghent 18/4 (?)
<jean7491> (?) as after the dipro in januari, there were comments/remarks about too many dipro fairs in ghent
<jean7491> mimor ? comment ?
<siegie> verhelsttje on ubuntu-nl would maybe help. http://forum.ubuntu-nl.org/ubuntu-nl/hulp-gevraagd-voor-ubuntu-stand-op-dipro-beurzen/ but he's not on the wiki yet
<jean7491> or Gh0sty ?
<JanC> last time there was an important cyclocross competition IIRC
<jean7491> siegie : ok, i noted his name in forum-nl !
<JanC> always means less visitors, especially in the afternoon
<Gh0sty> i dont think i will be participating in much ubuntu stuff anymore
<Gh0sty> got a load of other work and personal things to do :/
<JanC> we can see, it's still a "long" time (April)
<jean7491> ok, next item Release parties Lucid Lynx 10.04LTS
<jean7491> - already announced in mechelen (hcc) and genk (bitmappers) (and perhaps in brussels ?)
<jean7491> hcc mechelen : nero - something to add ?
<pvandewyngaerde> and maybe one in gent ?? at the new whitespace / hackerspace ?? see mailinglist ?
<jean7491> - ghent : is there a possibility and a will to organize a release party for lucid lynx in the area of ghent?
<jean7491> mimor is trying to move in this matter
<jean7491> other question : - antwerp : is there a possibility and a will to add something rp-lookalike to antwerp dipro on 9/5 ? ...
<jean7491> i hope to discuss this point with people from a'pen area, in the following weeks
<JanC> I think we should promote the one in Genk mostly, they do a lot of work
<JanC> maybe small parties in other places are cool too though
<JanC> even if only to have a drink
<siegie> JanC: idd genk is planned to be bigger than the release party in herk de stad 2 years ago
<JanC> but we shouldn't overload teh agenda
* XiaoShiZi (~XiaoShiZi@94-226-250-119.access.telenet.be) a rejoint #ubuntu-be
<JanC> I think we should promote Genk to be the "main" release party
<jean7491> it is indeed the main rp from bitmappers, i don't see it as main party for ubuntu-be as we were and are not involved
<jean7491> only 1 message in the mailing list, but of course we relay the information through our channel
<JanC> well, some of us will probably be involved (even if not in the main organisation)
<JanC> I agree that more cooperation would be useful
<JanC> but OTOH, nobody else in ubuntu-be wants to organise an alternative ;)
<siegie> The hcc one is just the next meeting, i don't think they've organized something special
<JanC> siegie: they will probably show of lucid & offer install support or something
<siegie> yeah, something like that.
<siegie> but i'm going to leave, have to do much work for school tomorrow. Good night all
<jean7491> for these reasons i'm suggesting a rp in ghent, as the more active members are from the areas close to ghent
<jean7491> good night siegie !
<rulus> bye siegie
<JanC> if it's just for a drink then okay
<jean7491> we'll see later for rp in ghent
<jean7491> anything about other events ?
<JanC> IIRC teh release is on 29th ?
<jean7491> yes
<jean7491> other events ?
<jean7491> nothing for other events ?
<JanC> well, post-release there is UDS-M and LGM2010
<JanC> but not much to be said about that now
<jean7491> no new info ?
<JanC> UDS-M is for developers & other people who help with Ubuntu
<JanC> nothing now
<jean7491> ok, next topic
<jean7491> topic 2 - Promotion
<jean7491> as ramtar suggested last week, our actions are not promoted through the medias. ...
<jean7491> we need a public-relation team helping to promote ubuntu information and activities in the media.
<jean7491> comment ?
<rulus> I think press releases are a good start, if we make a press release for the Lucid release mentioning release party's it might get picked up more easily
<JanC> that's mostly useful for "bigger" events
<JanC> like releases and such
<JanC> maybe we can ask the bitmappers to do a joint press release?
<JanC> about the release?
<rulus> good idea
<JanC> I'll mail them to ask (I have something other to mail them about too)
<jean7491> ok
<jean7491> other comment about the idea of a press release with mention of all rp's we will know about ?
<jean7491> and more general about the idea of a pr team ?
<JanC> I think we can best link to a web page to list all release parties
<JanC> and a PR team is good of course
<JanC> we had one once, but those people aren't very active anymore...

* yanu est parti (Changing host)
* yanu (~yanu@lugwv/member/yanu) a rejoint #ubuntu-be
<jean7491> then it is necessary whe start again with a new pr team
<JanC> if we have volunteers, then that's certainly welcome, yes
<jean7491> of course the question is "who is volunteer ?"
* nightrid3r (kvirc@41.214.248.175) a rejoint #ubuntu-be
<jean7491> we could start echanges on this topic in the mailing list (hoping for a miracle)
<JanC> I'm sure MarkVDB will be happy to help with some things (e.g. he has a list of press contacts)
<jean7491> ok
<JanC> I'm also not sure how much a press release through Belga costs
<jean7491> no idea, question for the pr-team!
<JanC> it's not cheap, although IIRC they have a free unfiltered option too
<jean7491> other comment on the pr ?
<jean7491> if not, next item : the cd's
<jean7491> comment about the proposal to burn CD's for Ubuntu-be ?
<jean7491> no comment ? no volunteer ?
<jean7491> then next topic# 3 support points map status
<jean7491> i suppose that without mongolito404 , we can skip this topic
<jean7491> ?
<JanC> yeah
<jean7491> topic 4 – things living in the mailing list
<jean7491> item #1 : new ways/events to promote ubuntu: all suggestions are welcome, but no suggestion !
<jean7491> no idea ?
<jean7491> other question not in the agenda ?
<JanC> hm, I was thinking about something earlier today, but can't remember what now :P
<jean7491> pvandewyngaerde about linuxbabel ?
<jean7491> if no question, last topic - next meeting on 24/03/2010 at 21 h.
<JanC> k
<jean7491> ok, then end of the meeting, thanks to all for your participation !
* nero est parti (Disconnected by services)
