General feedback

I sponsored some 10 uploads from Bhavani. Most of them were either simple merges (with a very small Ubuntu delta), or small FTBFS fixes. Bhavani's enthusiasm and his efforts helps a lot to improve Ubuntu, and I want to thank him here! Many of the supplied patches were good for upload, and sometimes I had to ask for or do some corrections.

I did not sponsor more complicated changes from him, so I cannot vouch for his packaging skills yet.

Specific Experiences of working together

Some merges like mutt went without a hitch. In one or two merges he still kept an Ubuntu delta although we did not need it any more.

Areas of Improvement

I think it would be better if Bhavani would concentrate his efforts on a smaller number of packages first, to learn more about packaging, and how to work with Debian/upstream to let our changes/fixes flow upstream, and judge which ones can be dropped. With his enthusiasm I'm sure that he can become a great MOTU soon!

General feedback

I acknowledged many sync requests from Bhavani. He described detailed enough, why the Ubuntu changes could be dropped. I can't remember any problems with his requests.

Areas of Improvement

I think he should get more experience besides sync and small merges, but you don't have to know everything to become MOTU.

General Feedback

I have processed many of Bhavani's syncs and merges during my work as an archive admin. This means I tend to only see the final result after there has been some back-and-forth between Bhavani and his sponsor.

Areas of Improvement

I think Bhavani needs more experience besides syncs and small merges, and should also be a little more careful before asking to get something synced. With more experience, he could be a valued MOTU.

Daniel Holbach (dholbach)

General Feedback

The list of fixed bugs that Bhavani filed and I replied to lists 160 bugs. The vast majority of them are OK and simple and either merges or syncs. The quality of Bhavani's sponsoring requests has definitely improved over time.

Specific Experiences of working together

Among the few I checked (out of the 160 bugs) I found these which still required work:

The mistakes were oversights that can happen.

Areas of Improvement

I agree with much that has been said above. While I appreciate Bhavani's hard work in getting Debian and Ubuntu closer to each other, sometimes his choice of packages seems to be a bit random and does rarely extend above syncs and merges.

Keep up the good work, Bhavani!
