Ubuntu Contributions pre-MOTU

During the Warty beta I ported a later version of [http://www.mono-project.com/about/index.html Mono] and several Gtk# based applications. Some of these applications I updated to upstream, and for [http://www.monodevelop.com/ Monodevelop], ported to CDBS and added patches to solve bugs. Much of this work was added to universe for hoary. Also included was my first deb package, [http://www.beatniksoftware.com/tomboy/ Tomboy].

I am currently working on cleaning up the [http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/t/tomboy/ Tomboy package] (DONE), and watching out for issues with the other packages I've been involved with (Updated [http://www.imendio.com/projects/blam/ Blam] to build against Firefox).

Ubuntu Contributions as an MOTU

It appears that my work on Ubuntu was part of the inspiration for the MOTU team, but only recently applied (and was approved) to join the resulting team. Reference: http://people.ubuntulinux.org/~mako/ubuntu-traffic/u20040924_05.html#4

  • Maintain actively Tomboy, Blam, Muine, and depedencies (mono, gtk-sharp).
  • Maintain f-spot, my package is sponsored in Debian by Ondrej.
  • Interact with upstream developers and Debian maintainers whenever possible, and push fixes up the ladder.
  • I also participated in the ongoing MOTU effort UniversePythonTransitionTODO.
  • Helping MOTU hopefuls get past administrativa, packaging issues
  • Helping to organize a proactive security team within Ubuntu.

* Bugs I've been involved with (most Universe bugtracking efforts await Malone)

Work In Other Distributions

  • I've been a long time contributor to Gentoo Linux, and have served as co-lead to the Desktop and Hardened projects.
  • I maintained a bulk of packages, including fluxbox, openbox, and their related utils, nicotine (p2p), and also resolved bugs and QA issues with a large number of misc window managers and aging x11 utilities.
  • I am still involved with the Hardened Gentoo project, and maintain a security focused kernel tree. A mirror of that work is [http://dev.gentoo.org/~tseng/kernel/ here].

  • I am currently building installation media for the upcoming release. I was also involved with or wrote several of the documents available [http://hardened.gentoo.org here].

  • Lastly, I was invited to speak in support of this work in [http://cplug.net/conference/ Harrisburg, Pa this March].
