| I live and work in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I am quite new to Ubuntu and I am already very impressed. My Linux background is mostly Red Hat and Fedora. I've worked with many other Unix systems (AIX, AT&T, BSD*, HP-UX, Solaris, Xenix and more) over the years. I hope to be able to contribute in Ubuntu. | I live and work in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The system clock effectively stopped. I called the problem "Time Slows Down". The ultimate resolution turned out to be adding the kernel parameter "noapic" (see GrubHowto for setting kernel parameters). Here is a [http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=109901 Ubuntu Forum] thread about the problem. 1. There is a quirk in Gaim where pasting text into a conversation often does not behave correctly. I notice it most often trying to copy/paste a URL from Firefox into Gaim. Pasting to Emacs (which I tend to have open all the time) and then to Gaim often works. Sometimes, restarting Gaim helps. |
