We are celebrating the release of Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala) scheduled for October 29. Physical and virtual (IRC & other) events are taking place. Each release cycle a number of efforts happen around the release. Globally, UbuntuDeveloperWeek and UbuntuGlobalJam events happen a month or two before and focus on contributing to the release. Parties (listed below) and UbuntuOpenWeek happen near or after the release.

General Info

• Karmic Koala 9.10 is an alpha release. DO NOT install it on production machines. See UbuntuDevelopment/UsingDevelopmentReleases. The final stable version is scheduled to be released on October 29th, 2009.

• For general Ubuntu information please see www.ubuntu.com or ask in one of Ubuntu's community support areas.

• The Ubuntu Developer Summit for Karmic Koala 9.10 was held Monday 25 May - Friday 29 May 2009, in Barcelona, Spain. A Technical Overview and Blueprints are being used as guides for producing this release.

• Several LoCo members are currently running Karmic for testing purposes. Your participation is encouraged but not required.
