The Ubuntu Developer Summit is being held here in Oakland, California!

Evening event ideas
Wednesday and Thursday nights tend to be available for the local Team (downtown 1/2 mile radius -26 degree planning map) to offer events to the visiting UDS attendees.

A tour from the public transit BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) station in Oakland at 7PM over to the Embarcadero in San Francisco.
