Introduction

Welcome to the California Team wiki! Our goal is to advocate Free Software and spread Ubuntu through as many avenues as possible. We also want to bring open-minded individuals together to share, learn and discuss anything and everything related to Ubuntu.

Headlines

• Ubuntu "Jaunty" 9.04 is here! For more information and important notes for upgrading, you can read the release notes, technical overview, and release announcement. You can download Jaunty from a download server or over BitTorrent. For more help, read the upgrade and installation guides, or join #ubuntu on irc.freenode.net. The Canonical press releases give good overviews of the features as well: desktop, netbook & server A Tour of new features is also available.

• California had successful Jaunty Release Parties! We have a few more upcoming events.

• Our next meeting will be on May 3rd, 2009 in the #ubuntu-california channel on Freenode IRC. All interested people are welcome to join us!

Goals

• Meet with and join up with local LUGs (Linux User Groups), like this one in Silicon Valley, or these around Los Angeles.

• Have a presence at conferences and events such as Southern California Linux Expo 2008 and Ubuntu Live.
