About Me

Hello my name is Christopher Swift and I am a 17 year old student in Neath Port Talbot, Wales in the UK. I've been using Linux since Dapper back in '06 on a VM and later before 6.10 I had installed it to a separate partition on my hard disk, since every computer in my house has converted in part, or entirely to Ubuntu. Currently I am focusing my efforts towards packaging to help contribute to the MOTU team.

Things that I do for Ubuntu

Ubuntu UK

• I am an active contributor to the IRC channel #ubuntu-uk on the Freenode network, helping users with their issues when I can as well as contributing to the community feel of the channel with the regulars.
• A regular at the Ubuntu-UK IRC meetings, I usually watch the meeting advance and interjecting when a thought or valid point has been raised that I can help contribute and/or add my own views to the current train of thought.

Development

• I am currently being mentored by jpds to build packages for the Ubuntu Universe repository.

• I have currently submitted several packages (with _many_ revisions) to revu.

• I am working on many [needs-packaging] bugs in launchpad.

Submitted revu packages

• grdc - A remote desktop connection client for GTK & GNOME.

• grdc-gnome - A GNOME applet for the grdc client.

• partitionmanager - A KDE partition & disk manager.

Future work

Some day soon in the future I hope to become an official member of the Ubuntu MOTU. The MOTU have inspired me greatly, especially jpds and dholbach. I hope to be an active contributor to the Universe within 3 months of writing this wiki [19/01/2009].
