Introduction

My first thoughts on the purpose of this team is to provide a means for Ubuntu (and Linux in general) users to find and be able to call upon other people in Connecticut for support, help and encouragement when demonstrating, install-fests and any other formal or informal meetings to discuss the uses and advantages people can find in Ubuntu.

This team is a work-in-progress and is definately not something rigid or set in stone. It should, first and foremost, be relaxed and fun! Most of us are working for a living in one form or another and some may have families. I cannot overlook my obligations and I am not about to demand anybody else overlook their obligations!

How to Contribute

All work and no play makes casper a boring ghost

Working with this team should be fun, and enjoyable. Heaven knows nobody really wants to take on a drab, dull and boring job and what's the real use in that?

Some areas that are currently being worked on is

  1. Configuring and understanding the Launchpad site
  2. This Wiki Page
  3. Setting up a mailing list
  4. Setting up a Connecticut Forum
  5. Setting up an IRC channel (and learning how it works, I've never used one)

  6. Scheduling a meeting for networking, brain-storming and familiarizing us with each other

Anything anybody can do to help with the above will be appreciated. A fair amount of time is being taken up trying to figure "how" things work, and then cleaning up the implementation from the experimenting.

Documentation on how to do things is also appreciated, such as setting up a Forum, led me to setting up a contact, a mailing list and/or IRC channel. Links to specific documentation is also something that would be great to organize and list here.

One thing that may be of help to figure out is how to set up memberships and what what can be done with them? Such as changing this Wiki page, what can be done in Launchpad, who wants to be involved with being a team contact, etc.

Projects

Let's get thinking of some projects to help promote and display Ubuntu and Linux in general to this state!

First, though, we need to jump-start communication and I'm not sure what is going to be the best way. Ideas? I'm all ears!!

Meetings

None planned yet, though I wonder what interest there is regarding at lesat a get-together "meet-and-greet" orientated summer party?
