New features and changes in 18.10
Core desktop and applications
Embrace the dark side with Plasma 5.13: simple by default, powerful when needed
Plasma 5.13, the latest release of KDE's desktop has been developed to make it smoother to use while retaining the familiar setup. This release of Plasma in the 1st to ship with Plasma Browser Integration.
Kubuntu 18.10 is built and ships with Qt 5.11
KDE Applications 18.04.3
Kubuntu comes with KDE Applications 18.04 containing all your favourite apps from KDE.
Provided is the 18.04.3 update with bugfixes and translation updates. All the KDE applications on the ISO have been ported to KDE Frameworks 5 and any remaining in the archive that aren't should fit in seamlessly.
Web browser and office suite
Firefox 61 is the default browser
LibreOffice 6.1.1 is provided by default in the full installation.
Other highlights/notes
Plasma Wayland session - Available by in the 18.10 Beta, but is not supported for 18.10 final release
A Plasma Wayland session is available for testing by by selecting Plasma (Wayland) at the login screen, however this is not supported. Users needing a stable desktop experience should select the normal 'Plasma' (without Wayland) option at login.
- It is likely this option will be removed by default for the final 18.10 release, but will can be made available by installing the plasma-workspace-wayland package.
