TeXbuntu

Introduction

TeXbuntu is based on Xubuntu 10.04 (Lucid Lynx) and has been set up by the Lehrstuhl für Systemverfahrenstechnik (chair for process systems engineering) of the Technische Universität München. The main focus is directed on writing scientific papers using TeX. In addition there are some useful applications bundled, like Octave, GIMP, Inkscape, JabRef, and some PDF tools. TeXbuntu has originally been created for the chair's students, but anyone who wants to have a ready-to-use TeX system is welcome to benefit from this derivative. BTW: You can run TeXbuntu as well as LiveDVD or do a real installation. (Though to be honest for the latter option you need a working internet connection as not all deb-packages are present on the DVD.)
