These were releases that were fully integrated in the Ubuntu project and contributed significantly and directly towards the project:

Former editions

These editions were created and maintained by Canonical and the Ubuntu community. They received full support from Canonical, its partners and the community.

Derivative Team Members

Derivative Team Members are created and maintained by individuals and organizations outside of Canonical and Ubuntu. Quality Assurance is maintained by cooperation between the derivative and Ubuntu. These derivatives are self-governed but work closely with the Ubuntu community.

Localizations

Member localizations are created and maintained by Approved Ubuntu LoCo teams.

Customizations

  • BackBox - A penetration test and security assessment oriented derivative providing a network and informatic systems analysis toolkit.

  • Freespire - A fully libre derivative sponsored by PC/OpenSystems.

  • Guadalinex - A Spanish language derivative sponsored by the Andalusia regional government in Spain.

  • Linspire - A derivative sponsored by PC/OpenSystems optimized for ease of use.

Derivative Team Community

The Derivative Team Community consists of Ubuntu based distributions that have chosen to work less closely with the Ubuntu Community. Often, they are more experimental or are branching from the Derivative Teams mission.
