  • Working on hildon components. Done: libhildon-thumbnail, hildon-thumbnail-libid3, hildon-theme-tools, hildon-themes, hildon-themes-plankton. Right now hildon-desktop and its dependencies.
  • Added hildon-theme-catcher, hildon-home-webshortcut, hildon-control-panel, clipboard-manager, maemo-launch, hildon-initscripts, osso-af-startup, posix-locales and gaspacho-hildon into launchpad.

Alexander Sack (asac)

Firefox

Firefox Addon Support

  • bringing spec to review state
  • looking into extension manager code to get a general idea about changes needed in case we want an "alternate install dialog" to pop up when user installs .xpi from the web and we have an Ubuntu equivalent for it.

Free Flash:

  • bringing spec to review state
  • discussion with swfdec maintainer about easy-codec installation.

MOTU work

  • reviewing and sponsoring gnome-btdownload, bitstormlite; merging xulrunner
  • bzr, packaging and licensing mentoring for torrent team
  • upstream discussion with libtorrent rasterbar developer about library name clash (and sonames/ABI-compatibility of libs); unfortunately author appears to not care. Next: try to find a common name of library filename with other distributors.

Other Mozilla Work:

  • more work on lightning and sunbird against system libs. State: Still trying to find a decent solution to build sunbird-bin runner binary without rebuilding parts of the (firefox) toolkit from within sunbird sources. Using libxul-dev from xulrunner (instead of thunderbird-dev) appears to be an option.

Misc:

  • buglog thoughts and discussion.

Ben Collins (BenC)

General:

  • Moved git trees to new kernel.ubuntu.com machine (thanks James and crew!)
  • Configured setup of gitweb for k.u.c

Kernel:

  • Continued following linux-2.6.git upstream, and made several uploads
  • Worked on libwfb nvidia-glx-new fix, tested by Dell and others.
  • Processed some Ubuntu patches to be pushed upstream.

Bug triaging:

  • assigned packages to some bugs that had none i.e. were just filed against Ubuntu

Specs:

  • Color filters - Approved - Guillaume Seguin is investigating the different kinds of colour blindness and is experimenting with filters (SoC)
  • compiz-mag - Review - Kristian Lyngstøl has enhanced the compiz zoom plugin to provide focus-tracking, ported from Beryl (SoC)
  • Mouse tweaks - Review - Gerd Kohlberger has implemented a dwell-clicking demo.
  • Buglog - Review
  • Installer for Windows - Review - The Wubi installer is making steady progress and are receptive to making the changes we need.
  • ISO test tracker - Review - DB moved to Postgres.
  • Speech recognition - Review - Informational. A Gnome SoC student is working on a part of this. We've decided not to make it a Gutsy goal.

SoC:

  • We have started holding weekly team meetings via skype. We held the first today (May 23) which seemed to work well. All three have made a good start.
  • All these projects eventually come up against performance issues because the input capturing they require is expensive. Less frequent polling results in choppy behavior.
