'''Don't worry if you don't know any of our tools yet.''' You can make useful contributions before learning how to use the tools. The easiest way to help is to take a look at our current works in progress on the DocteamProjects wiki page. DocteamProjects contains links to HTML previews of our work. The previews are updated regularly, and in most cases will only be a day or so out of date. When you find errors in these documents, point them out to us either on IRC on the [:DocteamCommunications:#ubuntu-doc channel], or on our [:DocteamCommunications:mailing list]. If you write a section for us, then send it to the mailing list. We will review your changes and additions, implement them, and give positive feedback. '''Don't worry if you don't know any of our tools yet.''' It is easy to contribute without knowing our tools, and they are easy to learn! Go to the [:/GettingStarted:Getting Started] page to learn how to contribute.

You can also work directly on the Doc''''''Book sources. Read-only access to the docteam's repository is available at https://docteam.ubuntu.com/repos. Once you have emailed a few patches to the mailing list, you will be given an account with direct read-write access to the repository.

Introduction

The Documentation Team manages the Ubuntu Documentation Project (UDP), an open source volunteer project that develops and maintains documentation for the Ubuntu operating system.

The docteam is still very small, and has a big job to do. New contributors and members are always welcome. People are needed mostly for writing and editing, but there are many other ways of making a useful contribution. For example, simply pointing out errors (such as typos, grammar and spelling, and technical errors) is an extremely useful way to help.

How to Contribute

Great! You want to help.

Don't worry if you don't know any of our tools yet. It is easy to contribute without knowing our tools, and they are easy to learn! Go to the [:/GettingStarted:Getting Started] page to learn how to contribute.
