About me

I am mostly interested in advocacy/marketing, local support & training and new users introduction / migration to Gnu/Linux, with an emphasis on security. I currently work full-time as an "open-technologies" solutions consultant (software , hardware, formats, licences) in and around Montreal, QC, Canada, focusing on security and migration issues.

I have also joined Canonical as a senior support analyst in Montreal since November 2006, just after the UDS.

Plans & vision for Ubuntu

I see Ubuntu becoming an essential tool to make Gnu/Linux more accessible to everyone, starting with my parents Smile :) I feel it's a community that is open enough to let anyone participate to the extent of their abilities and availability.

As part of my professional but also personal activities, I plan on focusing on the following:

In all teams

  • Keeping the Ubuntu community open and friendly, following the code of conduct
  • Contributing and teaching others how to contribute through in tasks that will make the MOTU's work easier
  • Actively encouraging people to register to Launchpad and document their participation
  • Encouraging participation in UbuntuInLibraries

In Quebec, as part of the Ubuntu-QC team

  • Actively marketing and selling Ubuntu-related services locally:
  • * Training
  • * Servers install and support
  • * Desktop migration and support
  • Becoming a liaison for local support & advocacy

  • Participating or organazing events with Ubuntu mentions / presence

In Colombia, as part of the Ubuntu-CO team

  • Mentoring the ElkinBotero (the team leader) and the members to officialize the team

  • Actively monitoring and helping with the IRC channel, mailing list and initial web resources (forums, etc.)
