Multimedia Plugins

How do I install mplayer-plugin?

You need to install [:MPlayer: MPlayer] before you can use the mplayer firefox plugin. If your country's laws allow you to use w32codecs, installing that package is strongly advised. See RestrictedFormats for details.

Once you have set up and configured mplayer, add the plugin to firefox by installing the mozilla-mplayer package.

How do I install the Totem plugin?

On Ubuntu, Totem can use either the gstreamer (default) or xine multimedia frameworks. The plugin installation process depends on the framework you use. If you use totem-gstreamer (the version of Totem that uses the gstreamer back-end), you need to install the totem-gstreamer-firefox-plugin package. If you use totem-xine, you need to install the totem-xine-firefox-plugin package.

How do I install other plugins?

Information about installing other browser plugins is available at [http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/linux.html PluginDoc for Linux (x86)].
