IRC

The #ubuntu-georgia channel on the Freenode IRC network can be used as needed for online meetings.

To get onto our IRC channel open your IRC client (if you need one you can get XChat out of Add/Remove Applications). Connect to the FreeNode Network (In XChat pull down the "IRC" menu, click "connect" and select "FreeNode"). Then join the ubuntu-georgia channel (in XChat type "/join #ubuntu-georgia" in the input box) and you are in.

Free IT Athens is a non-profit community advocate for fair and open technology in Athens, Georgia and the surrounding areas. Our goal is to provide access to information technology resources that are cost-prohibitive or not available to greater Athens-Clarke County residents and organizations.

Free IT has many on going and upcoming projects. Most of which involve refurbishing older computers, installing Ubuntu Linux on them, and returning them to the community.

Open hours are held most Sundays 1-5 pm (See web site for closings, like for holidays). Open hours are a time for people to come in help, get help, or just hang out. See web site for more details.

Classic Hackers University of Georgia Linux User Group (CHUGALUG)

The Linux User Group for the University of Georgia, out of Athens, Georgia. Meetings have traditionally been held the last Thursday of the month at 7:30pm. Meetings usually have an informative speaker on a related Linux topic, and lots of time for open discussion and help.
