Under Ubuntu 6.06 just add "usb 0x4b8 0x818" (no quotes) right after the similar comented out line in /etc/sane.d/epson.conf - See PITA thread for more detail. Also works under Kubuntu 5.10 but I have to change the permissions on a file after every reboot. Search forums for cx3810 and read the PITA thread. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=121540

Then "sudo gedit /etc/udev/rules.d/45-libsane.rules": add your scanner in GROUP="scanner"; make sure your user-ID is in the group "scanner". Ignore the error-messages when closing the xsane.
