I am also developping my own backup program, [http://code.google.com/p/hbackup/ hbackup], as if there were not enough lying around ;-)

Finally, I developped some scripts to help with cross-compilation mixed with native compilation, called [http://code.google.com/p/makeptf/ makeptf] (PTF stands for two things: Package Tayloring Format and I leave you to guess the other).

My knowledge level

I am a proven C/C++ developer, with experience in configuration management systems (CVS, Subversion, Continuus). I am a script kiddy, used to Bash and Makefiles, more recently using Ruby (on Rails) and interested in Python. I am an expert in Linux systems and network administration. I am also an advanced Windows user.

Where I have Ubuntu running:

  • our [http://lucidia.net server] (Kubuntu Edgy Eft, running 24/7)

  • my desktop (Kubuntu Edgy Eft)
  • my media center (Kubuntu Edgy Eft)
  • my old laptop (Xubuntu Edgy Eft)
  • my wife's laptop (Kubuntu Edgy Eft)
  • my work desktop (Kubuntu Edgy Eft)

My participation

I have written a few pages, such as [https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuWirelessRouter UbuntuWirelessRouter] and [https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BridgingNetworkInterfaces BridgingNetworkInterfaces].

I try to help with bugs.

I would like to write an application to make it dead easy to do what my pages (above) describe.

I am also developping my own backup program, [http://code.google.com/p/hbackup/ hbackup], as if there were not enough lying around Wink ;-)

Finally, I developped some scripts to help with cross-compilation mixed with native compilation, called [http://code.google.com/p/makeptf/ makeptf] (PTF stands for two things: Package Tayloring Format and I leave you to guess the other).

My quick advices

  • use nfs-kernel-server rather then nfs-user-server
  • use libjasper-runtime for Kopete to support webcam calls
  • use Mozilla plugins (including flash) for Konqueror too
  • when lost, try the unofficial guide: http://ubuntuguide.org/
