My knowledge level

I am an expert in Linux systems and network administration. I am also an advanced Windows user.

Where I have Kubuntu (Dapper Drake) running:

  • our server (running 24/7)
  • my desktop
  • my old laptop
  • my wife's very modern laptop

My quick advices

  • set Xorg priority to -5 to play DVDs smoothly
  • use nfs-kernel-server rather then nfs-user-server
  • use libjasper-runtime for Kopete to support webcam calls
  • use Mozilla plugins (including flash) for Konqueror too
  • Use apt-cacher, not apt-proxy.
