Information Management Systems Association (IMSA) of San Francisco State University in conjunction with GrantBowman are currently working on a series of workshops that will provide students majoring in Information Systems with an opportunity to discover Open Source systems. Additionally, students will have a real hands on experience administrating, setting up, and supporting these systems. We will be asking speakers from the community to come present.
Possible workshop topics:
- workshop 1 - Sat, Feb 27th
- OS installation (partitions, installation techniques, file systems, and etc) ; creating a private network; basic work with terminal; DHCP and DNS
- workshop 2 - Sat, Mar 13th
- TCP/IP, basic routing, DHCP, DNS, and setting up email server
- workshop 3 - Sat, Mar 20th or 27th
- monitoring network, creating wifi gateways, printer servers, and other services
- workshop 4 - Sat, Apr 10th or 17th
- creating LAMP environment (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP)
- workshop 5 - Sat, May 1st
- backups and periodic processes
- workshop 6 - TBD
- virtualization and security
- workshop 7 - TBD
- shell scripting boot camp
- workshop 8 - TBD
- system performance analysis
