I started venturing into Linux back in late 2005. I had downloaded Ubuntu 5.10 because I had always heard many great things about it. However, it refused to install from a DVD drive, and as a result, I tried SuSE. In May 2006, when Dapper was starting to become popular, even in the beta days, I installed it and since then have never went back to any other distribution. I have given out around 20 copies of Ubuntu since, and have personally installed around 10 on others' machines. I started venturing into Linux back in late 2005. Me

I'm Jacob Peddicord, a web developer and Ubuntu member. To the surprise of many, I am 16 years old.

I'm a student/programmer. I know PHP/MySQL, Python, C++, HTML/CSS, and Javascript/AJAX technologies, to name a few. I especially love Python, and I'm using it to code a game console project known as [http://xeiso.com Xeiso].

I have given out around 50 copies of Ubuntu since, and have personally installed around 15 on others' machines.

I rarely post photos on the Internet, but here I am. I'm on the left, talking to [:PWill:Paul Williams] (right) and [:DanBuch:Dan Buch] (standing) at the [:OhioTeam/FeistyParty:Ohio Feisty release party] at Panera.

Contributions to Ubuntu

  • Bug triaging; I try to do this whenever I have some free time
  • Forums:
  • Helping out with the Ohio LoCo team:

    • Current team contact, though the team is council-led
    • Operating #ubuntu-us-oh on irc.freenode.net
    • Maintaining http://ohio.ubuntu-us.org

    • Trying to keep the email robots from breaking loose and wreaking havoc
  • I wrote the [https://launchpad.net/loco-drupal-support LoCo Support System] for Drupal

    • Originally called "the f2f project," I started working on this in April 2007.
    • Finalized for production use on June 1, it ran only on the [http://ohio.ubuntu-us.org Ohio LoCo site].

    • Less than a week later on June 7, I published the code on Launchpad under the GPL.
