Welcome
This is the wiki page of the Kenya Local Community Team. We aim to provide free community support to users of the various flavours of Ubuntu Linux as well as advocating the use of Ubuntu to individuals and organisations alike. We plan to hold regular meetings around the country as well as keeping in touch via our active mailing list and IRC chatroom.
Who is this group for?
This group is for anyone in the Kenya who uses or is interested in some flavour of Ubuntu, whether it's Ubuntu, Kubuntu or any others. This group is for people of all technical abilities from I've-never-heard-of-linux all the way to I'm-an-Ubuntu-Master.
How do I join?
There is no official process to join, just sign up to our [http://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-ke mailing list] or come and chat in our Internet Relay chatroom (#ubuntu-ke on irc.freenode.net).
AIMS
- Provide consultancy and tutor services to newbies
- Distributing Ubuntu CDs locally to businesses, schools, institutions, organisations and individual users.
- Develop "Kenyan like" logos
- Develop a mirror site.
- Local community developer.
- Ubuntu-and linux in general, training and consultancy.
MEETINGS
Our meetings are always held online via irc or mailing lists. If you have a problem that needs to be solved at your location you can still just post at the mailing list and a volunteer can offer himself. If you also need CDs you can still post a request abd one can be availed to you.
