What was done engineering wise?

This week we rebased the Quantal kernel to the latest v3.5-rc4 upstream Linux kernel and uploaded. This contained some critical bug fixes necessary for Alpha2. We also uploaded this to the ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/q-lts-backport PPA to facilitate testing of the 12.10 kernel in 12.04. Please test and let us know your results.

We've also recently uploaded the linux-ti-omap4-3.4.0-2.7 kernel to resolve 101009. This is currently building in the quantal-proposed pocket.

What's about to land that might impact the other teams and release as a whole?

Nothing at this time.

Summary of bugs working on by team (reasonably reliable)

  • 1003793 - broadcom wireless does not work with quantal-backport-kernel

  • 1004101 - [RFE] Allow Bug Reporting When Running Backport Kernel

  • 988447 - Move linux-headers-generic to section metapackages

  • 1009564 - Quantal Ubuntu Wubi failed to install

  • 1005832 - Intel wifi frequent disconnects

  • 1013305 - Corrupted graphics NVidia 320M

  • 1011828 - Session failed to laod with 12.10 kernel on 12.04 test

  • 1013199 - be2net driver used by HP BL460c bridge networking not working

  • 898784 - Distorted screen on MacBook Air 3,2 (GT216 10de:08a3)

  • 1013372 - unable to suspend with 3.4.0-4.9~precise1-generic 3.4.0

  • 993506 - nvidia kernel module fails to build on 3.4.x kernel [fatal error: asm/system.h: No such file or directory]

    • Fixed in Quantal, but want it SRU'd for Precise as it will affect anyone running a 12.10 kernel in 12.04

  • 994255 - bcmwl-kernel-source 5.100.82.38+bdcom-0ubuntu6.1: bcmwl kernel module failed to build [fatal error: asm/system.h: No such file or directory]

  • 1018456 - b44 unable to enable network on 64bit

  • 1018020 - Logitech webcam not working
