I am a Vancouver, Canada based software developer. I do all of my research and development under Ubuntu.

I graduated from UBC '07 where I studied Artificial Intelligence before working as a software engineering consultant. I vacillated between research and industry, beginning with Aviation Research Corp before getting involved in biotech research with the Small Neural Systems Group of Dr. Catharine Rankin in the Brain Research Centre at UBC. There, I lead the development of machine vision software libre to aid in the study of behavioural, cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in learning and memory.

Since then, I have worked for Scrapboy Digital Media and Rocket Gaming Systems. I was later involved in enhancing the Virtual Computer Numerical Controller with assembly level hardware acceleration as a Software Project Engineer. I was then a Sessional Instructor with the Art Institute of Vancouver where I taught first year programming at a college academic level.

I am active participant in the software libre community. I am also among the DXX-Rebirth developers.

Today, I run a small software company where I focus my energies on the Avaneya project, a free, commercial, cerebral science fiction game with an emphasis on social justice. I hope to have this project bring a great influx of people to the Ubuntu community.

Current Projects

Avaneya

  • Avaneya is a free, commercial, cerebral science fiction game with an emphasis on social justice. The code is licensed under the GPLv3 and the media is to be licensed under one of the Creative Commons licenses. The game is currently under active development with a large community following its development. I hope to have this project bring a great influx of people to the Ubuntu community. The project website is available here.

DXX-Rebirth

  • The DXX-Rebirth project is a source port of the Descent and Descent 2 Engines and provides classical gameplay combined with OpenGL graphics and effects, a bunch of improvements and new features. I have worked on the netplay code base and I will also be leading efforts behind an eventual mipsel port. The project website is available here.

Slither

  • Slither is an application designed to track the movement of C. elegans worms in a laboratory environment. It was developed by the Small Neural Systems Group of Dr. Catharine Rankin, at the Brain Research Centre located at the University of British Columbia.

Released under the terms of the GNU General Public License v3, Slither is free software. The project website is available here.
