- is getting the Broadcom 4318 to work using bcm43xx-fwcutter considered a major issue?

- Onboard Memory: 512MB DDR-SDRAM (not shared with video card); expandable to 2GB
- Motherboard: CPU-Z reports it as "HP model 30A4 49.38; ATI RS482 chipet rev. 01; ATI SB400 southbridge"
- BIOS: currently F.33A, firmware dated 2006-02-24
- Video: ATI Radeon Xpress 200M with 128MB dedicated memory
- Audio: Conexant AC-Link (AC 97)
Wifi: Broadcom 4318; works if ndiswrapper >= v1.12 is installed with bcmwl5.sys v4.10.40.1 driver file (have tried bcm43xx-fwcutter v004 but does not work)

Notes
- two error messages are always reported during bootup with recent kernel versions 2.6.15-xx-k7. I have pasted the relevant lines from syslog:

- it appears to be related to the ATI chipset. potentially relevant output from lspci:
