I installed Edgy 6.10, which was very smooth, and for the most part things have just worked right out of the box / install. I was impressed that the grub installation automatically detected my Windows partition and set it up in the boot menu. Upon booting, sound, QuickPlay buttons, touchpad, wireless, and more all worked right away. The screen also worked, but in order to get the proper resolution, I had to install the package {{{915resolution}}} which was easy and solved the problem as soon as the X server was restarted. My only other complaints so far are that the headphone and mic jacks don't work properly and the battery estimates are sometimes unreliable. For example, when the battery is almost fully charged, on occasion the battery monitor will report only 3 or 4 minutes left, or it might report something huge like 22 hours left. == Current Issues == ## List any issues you have with the current development release here * headphone and mic jacks don't work * screen requires {{{915resolution}}} hack to work properly == System Info == {{{ ## Put the output of the following command here: ## (cd /var/lib/acpi-support/ ; grep . -r *-*) bios-version:F.06 system-manufacturer:Hewlett-Packard system-product-name:HP Pavilion dv6000 (RG374UA#ABA) system-version:Rev 1 }}} == Hardware details == || || in Dapper (current stable)? || in Edgy (current development)? || || Installation works? || Untested || Yes || ||<-4> '''Hardware Information''' || ||<-4> '''Screen & Monitors''' || ||<|2> '''Device''' ||<-2> '''Works?''' ||<|2> '''Bug #''' || || in Dapper (current stable)? || in Edgy (current development)? || || Screen || Untested || Yes, but had to install {{{915resolution}}} intel video BIOS hack || || || Correct resolution? || Untested || only after installing {{{915resolution}}} intel video BIOS hack || || || Correct refresh rate? || Untested || only after installing {{{915resolution}}} intel video BIOS hack || || || 3D Acceleration || Untested || Untested || || || External monitor works? || Untested || Untested || || || External monitor - mirrors || Untested || Untested || || || External monitor - extend desktop || Untested || Untested || || ||<-4> '''Power Management''' || || Battery detected? || Untested || Yes || || || Hibernates? || Untested || Yes || || || Sleep || Untested || Yes || || || Dim monitor on battery || Untested || Yes || || || Blank monitor on inactivity || Untested || Yes || || || Lid Close || Untested || Untested || || || Cpu frequency scaling || Untested || Yes || || ||<-4> '''Sound''' || || Sound works? || Untested || Yes || || || Correct volume? || Untested || Yes || || || Hardware volume switch || Untested || Yes || || || Headphone jack || Untested || NO || || || Mic jack || Untested || NO || || ||<-4> '''Networking''' || || Wired NIC || Untested || Yes || || || Wireless NIC || Untested || Yes, worked right out of the box, but had to install {{{wifi-radar}}} to configure it nicely / easily || || || PCMCIA NIC || Untested || Untested || || || Firewire || Untested || Untested || || || Bluetooth || Untested || Untested || || || Modem || Untested || Untested || || || Infrared || Untested || Untested || || ||<-4> '''Touchpad & Mice''' || || Touchpad || Untested || Yes || || || Touchpad - Doubletap = double click || Untested || Yes || || || Touchpad - Scroll down side || Untested || Yes || || || Touchpad - turned off while typing || Untested || Yes || || || External mouse - USB || Untested || Untested || || || External mouse - Serial || Untested || Untested || || ||<-4> '''Docking Station/Port Replicator''' || || AC through replicator || Untested || Untested || || || USB || Untested || Yes || || || Serial || Untested || N/A || || || Parallel || Untested || N/A || || || External Monitor - VGA || Untested || Untested || || || External Monitor - DVI || Untested || Untested || || || Modem || Untested || Untested || || || NIC || Untested || Untested || || || PS/2 || Untested || Untested || || ||<-4> '''Additional Hardware''' || || Fingerprint reader || Untested || Untested || || || CD/DVD drive || Untested || Untested || || || PCMCIA cards || Untested || Untested || || || Parallel Ports || Untested || Untested || || || Card reader(s) || Untested || Untested || || ## Add or remove keys as needed for your laptop.
