SharpPC-MW70J

Differences Between Models

  • PC-MW70J (the one I actually own): Pentium M 740 (1.73 GHz), CD-R/RW Burner, DVD-RAM&DVD±R/RW Burner

  • PC-MW50J : Celeron M 370 (1.50 GHz), CD-R/RW Burner, DVD Reader
  • M4000 Widenote : Pentium M 740 (1.73 GHz), CD-R/RW Burner, DVD Reader

Current Issues

  1. alsamixer shows one mixer control named Headphone, one named Front (for built-in speakers), and the PCM one. The Sound Up / Down / Mute function keys act on the Headphone mixer control, thus being useless when using the built-in speakers for playback. Then, I think that controlling PCM with these function keys would make more sense.
  2. Sound doesn't seem to work at resume from sleep.

Notes

  • Sleep works fine through "echo 3 > /proc/acpi/sleep".

  • Hibernate fails to restore the RAM image at boot (hangs after displaying "swsusp: Need to copy 43154 pages").
  • SD Card reader not tested yet, uses Ricoh controller. Should work with http://mmc.drzeus.cx/wiki/Linux/Drivers/sdhci.

  • i810 X.org driver uses 64M of RAM as video memory by default. Had to add a line "VideoRam 131072" in xorg.conf to make it use 128M.
