Notes

[1] After initial installation, only 640x480 resolution will be made available by the system. In order to attain the correct resolution, the user needs to edit the xorg.conf file manually by following the instruction provided in FixVideoResolutionHowto guide under "Undetected Monitor Specs" section. Although the laptop manual does not provide information about horizontal sync frequency for the 2180CDT monitor, it can easily be calculated using theModeline Generator, which will result in 30.43-68.95 mHz Horizontal Sync and 60-85 Hz Vertical Refresh. In addition, the colour depth in xorg.conf would be automatically preset at 24 bit, which causes the maximum resolution to be no more than 800x600. In order to extend it up to 1024x768, the user needs to alter the colour depth to 16 bit. However, this is not necessary since 800x600 resolution yield the best graphic for this laptop.

[2] Accupoint is an integrated pointing device that come with 2180CDT. It works fine when an external pointing device is not present (when you are not plugging a mouse into the laptop).
