Notes
Take Karmic as your OS. Karmic supports the 7 configurable keys on top of the keyboard, Jaunty doesn't.
To let the internal mic work I changed the alsa configuration. I also played a little with the alsamixer.
$sudo vim /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
Comment this line:
#options snd-hda-intel power_save=10 power_save_controller=N
Add this line:
options snd-hda-intel index=0 model=auto
