Project Outline
The Ubuntu Learning project is attempting to make professional education course materials, because we believe that education is one of the biggest barriers to getting new users and increasing existing users abilities.
As such, the project's goal is to make it easier for organizations and users to adopt Ubuntu and reduce the current attrition rate for new users through better awareness and community education. We intend to do this by working with existing teams to build and maintain an interactive learning environment(s) to support teaching all aspects of the Ubuntu Ecosystem that will allow the community to undertake self paced and instructor lead teaching in conjunction with IRC based training, question times, challenges, and other interactive teaching methods.
We have recognized a need in the community for consolidated training that is easy to find, and can be marketed collectively by the community and teams conducting training to any users seeking training. We have also seen evidence of high attrition rates in new users both in the Ubuntu Forums and in the #ubuntu IRC channel that we wish to rectify.
Our initial goal is to provide programs for the new user, the sysadmin, marketing, and a stream for someone who wants to contribute to Ubuntu. These ideas have been based on new user feedback, requests to the Ubuntu Forums Beginners Team, to the Classroom Team and to physical LoCo Classrooms. Our proposed course programs can be found in the sections below.
Our intention is to release all materials under a Creative Commons license, CC:BY-SA, with the intention to allow case by case waivers to allow recognized educational institutions to reuse the work.
If you have suggestions, please contact one of the project leaders listed below.

Course Creation Process
We are currently requesting community input on the five programs. The community training will be a continual process which is why we are marking the development in stages. We are also preparing a program for learning how to use Moodle and teach Ubuntu. Please feel free to select an area you are interested in and input training ideas for courses you would like to see in the following programs:
NOTE: A launchpad account is required to register for the wiki to be able to add your suggestions
We are planning on two kinds of materials for a given course. The first is a set of materials which closely follow the lesson topics, including challanges, further information and so on, this is the standard course materials that will be conducted by a trainer. The second part is background materials, information about topics which people will need to understand in order to grasp what they are going to be doing in a lesson. This could be generated information or information already present in the wiki and help documentation and some topics my only require one part.
SPECIAL NOTE ON THE COMMUNITY TRAINING: This community training program is not connected to the official Canonical training program. This content will cover some similar topics but will not have any accreditation or certification associated with it. The information contained is intended to supplement the teaching work already being done by several teams in a central location.
