Requirements

   • Build dependency of puppet.

3. Security:

   • No CVE entries.

   • Secunia history.

   • No binaries setuid/segid root.
   • No daemons.
   • It does not have any network activity.
   • It direcly processes structured data from the operating system.
   • No source code review.

4. Quality assurance:

   • The package should always work out of the box.
   • The package does not ask any debconf questions.

   • Debian bugs.

   • Maintenance in Debian is vigorous.

   • Upstream is frenetic.

   • Upstream bug tracker.

   • facter does not deal with any special hardware.
   • facter does have a testsuite but it is not enabled.

   • FHS and Debian Policy compliant.

   • Uses debhelper packaging system with no patching system

8. Since this is a simple library for puppet, there should not be alot of maintenance for facter. The Ubuntu Server Team will be the bug contact for facter and will take responsibily for it.
