Council

Revision 16 as of 2007-05-23 07:54:13

Clear message

The MOTU Council is the central place for decision making and improve MOTU management. It will help to find consensus and have a final say in conflicts. It will also take care of approval of new MOTUs. Apart from that it will try to organise the MOTU efforts and make it easy for everybody to concentrate on what they want to do.

Its current members: https://launchpad.net/~motu-council[[BR]] The mailing list: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/motu-council

The public MOTU Council mailing list will be announced shortly. If you have any private matters to discuss, feel free to contact member of the Council.

Responsibilities

  • Help to find consensus in MOTU decisions.
  • Help with leadership and organisation.
  • Ping ubuntu-dev members after half a year without activity. (Members once deactivated can re-apply easily.)

Decision making

The MOTU Council will have a quorum of three. Decisions are made with a simple majority. As soon as a Council member calls for a vote (on the MC mailing list), the council members have 48 hours to cast their votes. In case three affirmative votes have been cast before 48 hours have elapsed, the decision is valid immediately. Otherwise a simple majority of the votes will result in the decision.

Discussions

Discussions about policy changes will take place on the ubuntu-motu mailing list. On the motu-council list, only organisational discussions and member applications will take place.

Meetings

We rolled the MOTU Council meetings into MOTU meetings, so please look at ["MOTU/Meetings"] for more information.

MOTU membership approval

The process is outlined at ["MOTU/Hopeful/Recruitment"].
