Requirements

1. Availability: http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/t/tracker/ ; available for all supported architectures

2. Rationale:

   • Provide a smaller memory footprint desktop search tool, without mono dependencies.
   • Make possible the integration with nautilus search

3. Security:

   • No CVE entries for tracker http://cve.mitre.org/cgi-bin/cvekey.cgi?keyword=tracker.

   • No entries for tracker Secunia history.

   • No binaries running as root or suid/sgid.
   • Does not open any port.

   • Shallow security review by MartinPitt: not a 100% proof against int/buffer overflows, but I did not find any actual vulnerabilities (with the standard grepping/eyeballing a sample method)

4. Quality assurance:

   • See Tracker bugs

   • See Debian bugs

   • See Ubuntu bugs

   • Does not deal with exotic hardware which we cannot support.

5. Standards compliance:

   • Meets FHS, Debian Policy

   • Implements the freedesktop specification for metadata (http://freedesktop.org/wiki/Standards/shared-filemetadata-spec).
