Ubuntu Malaysia Team Meet Up - July 2008

• Time: 1.00 PM
  Venue: Pelita Restaurant, Jalan Ampang.
  

On July 2008, Ubuntu Malaysia Team have successfully organized a Meet Up at Pelita Restaurant, Jalan Ampang (Near KLCC). This meet up was held in order to have further discussions on how to improve and grow Ubuntu Community in Malaysia.

Agenda

The real agenda of this meeting is to get to know each others in ubuntu-my community. Then we are going to discuss on how to improve Ubuntu Malaysia community as well.

• Discuss on how to organize install feast event in Malaysia
• More Public Awareness programs ( focus on IPT )
• Introduce Ubuntu on Orphanage House
• Suggested open donation (like old computer) then setup ubuntu on it
• Approaching other sponsors for ubuntu community
• Discussion on joining Events at MMU - Software Freedom Day (September)
• Will also join any other open source / related Events
• Discuss on how to approach and focus on IPT students
• Other media promotions. Forum, IRC, Newspaper, magazine and so on.

• BuffaloSoldier Highlight: Short Term Target to achieve by the end of this year:

  • To get ubuntu-my as Official LoCo Team

  • To have more official ubuntu members from Malaysia. Currently we have 4 so make it at least double like 8 or more.
• Melayubuntu suggesting e-maj as more practical approach to malay readers. Trying to follow how Japan tech mags are written with full of useful informations.
• To improve Ubuntu-my Objective on wiki.

• Request on Ubuntu-my t-shirt reprint. Tajul & nick are willing to handle it. Agreed on first 100 prints.

• Eric says ubuntu.com.my website is empty and not enough links (to planet, forums, wiki and so on)
• Will have scheduled and maturely discussed events
• Problem with Session ID on forums.ubuntu.com.my
• Will we invite canonical to Malaysia?
• To have a list of vendors or opensource consultants to help with ubuntu solutions for companies.

Conclusion

Everybody was agreed with focusing on this short term target while still working on any personal interest in contributing to ubuntu community.
