Introduction

This is the wiki page for the Ubuntu Malaysia Local Community (LoCo) Team. Started in xxx 2007, the Malaysian Team has already grown to over 100 members and looking forward to moving ahead with getting the team approved as official LoCo Team. We aim to provide free community support to users of any of the Ubuntu flavours as well as advocating the use of Ubuntu to individuals and organisations a like.

The LoCo is meant for anyone residing in Malaysia who uses or is interested in Ubuntu (or any of it's flavours, ie. Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Edubuntu, etc). Everyone is welcome to join and contribute to the group regardless whether you're a Linux newbie or a well-known expert in the field.


Goals

  • To spread the Ubuntu's spirit to everyone in Malaysia
  • Be the central point for all Ubuntu users to discuss, get together and meet up
  • To give the local support, provide supplies and information to Malaysian users
  • To organise events and to represent Ubuntu in local conferences in Malaysia
  • To involve in Ubuntu projects such as packaging, localisation and documentation
  • Strengthen Ubuntu brand in Malaysia in businesses, educations and government

Introduction

This is the wiki page of the Malaysian Local Community Team. We aim to provide free community support to users of any of the Ubuntu flavours as well as advocating the use of Ubuntu to individuals and organisations alike. We keep in touch via our mailing list and IRC chatroom.

The group is meant for anyone in Malaysia who uses or is interested in any of the Ubuntu flavours, whether it's Ubuntu, Kubuntu or any others. Everyone is welcome to join the group regardless whether you're a Linux newbie or a well-known expert in the field.

Anyone can contribute to our group. You can always share your ideas or what you plan to contribute by posting on the mailing list and we will do our best to help you with the project.

Everyone who is planning to become a member of our LoCo team is encrouraged to register themselves as a member on Launchpad and join our team (https://launchpad.net/~malaysianteam) as it will be easier for us to maintain the group membership and activities through it.

NOTE: New members please do provide as much information of yourself in your Launchpad / wiki (ie. e-mail, name, etc) in order for us to approved your application in the shortest time. This is to avoid spammers / unwanted people to be in the LoCo team.
